I just got more interested in The Good Wife spin-off, although I can't actually link to the deadline website for some reason, LJ keeps calling it spam? But I read an article on there today which makes The Good Wife spin-off sound promising enough that it will most definitely be on my watch-list in February
We can reveal exclusively details about the premise of CBS All Access’ much anticipated The Good Wife spinoff series, which has added a fan favorite. Sarah Steele, who recurred on the mothership series, will co-star opposite Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo in the spinoff, co-created and executive produced by The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King.
As previously announced, the spinoff will pick up one year after the events of the final episode of The Good Wife, with Baranski and Quinn reprising their roles as Diane Lockhart and Lucca Quinn, respectively. Here is the news – the spinoff series will center around an enormous financial scam that has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, while simultaneously wiping out her mentor Diane Lockhart’s savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s preeminent law firms.
Steele will reprise her role as Eli Gold’s (Alan Cumming) smart and outspoken daughter Marissa Gold. In the spinoff, she is a brilliant but scattered millennial who begins as Diane Lockhart’s secretary, but finds she has a knack for investigating. The character will continue the original series’ tradition of strong and sassy female investigators, following in the footsteps of Kalinda and Robyn.
The 10-episode The Good Wife spinoff will premiere in February on CBS — its original network — before its episodes are released on CBS’ SVOD and live streaming platform All Access. Robert and Michelle King, who co-wrote the opening episode of the spinoff with Phil Alden Robinson, recently boarded the series as full-time showrunners/executive producers, roles they had on the original series for its entire seven-season run.
Other new shows I plan to check out are Luke Cage, The Good Place, and The Gilmore Girls revival. And then my returning shows are The Vampire Diaries, iZombie, The Big Bang Theory, Empire, and Pretty Little Liars. I also need to start catching up with From Dusk Till Dawn and Wentworth
How about everyone else, what shows are people planning on watching this year? :)

Date: 2016-09-19 03:34 pm (UTC)I intend to check out Timeless, as well as Luke Cage and Dirk Gently. Somehow, all the other new shows that might interest me are mid-season.

Date: 2016-09-19 04:01 pm (UTC)Well I do have Doctor Who next year at least, and again next year I want to check out American Gods and Cruel Intentions (which is supposedly possibly airing in summer 2017), but that show probably isn't going to last too long judging by how much interest NBC has shown so far :(

Date: 2016-09-19 03:59 pm (UTC)The only new show that I will check out will be Luke Cage. (And Gilmore Girls, but I don't see it as a new show). Otherwise I'm watching Supernatural, Supergirl, Grimm and Modern Family. And Flash Season 2 on Netflix. Then in June I will catch up on Agents of Shield Season 3. I might watch the pilot of "This is Us" only beause the characters are my age!

Date: 2016-09-19 06:34 pm (UTC)And I've been thinking that I might give the second season of Lucifer a shot actually. I watched the pilot and liked the actor, I just didn't feel inclined to keep watching if it was going to be set up as more of a detective show, but I've been reading some positive comments about the season 1 finale recently that have me intrigued, so I might try giving it another shot

Date: 2016-09-19 06:42 pm (UTC)But for me the best part of the show by far is the brotherly relationship between Lucifer and Amenadiel. There's just something special about how those two brothers interact, and both love and hate one another in equal measures, but how it's clear that in the end, they do deeply care what happens to the other. And the set up for s2 is just plain out awesome.

Date: 2016-09-19 07:15 pm (UTC)Luke Cage is definitely topping my list. And I'm not a fan of comedies, but I'll probably check out The Good Place anyways for Kristen Bell. I tend to watch the first few eps of most if not all of the primetime dramas, though I drop a lot of them after a few eps though, and just stick w/ what I end up liking.

Date: 2016-09-19 07:41 pm (UTC)And Kristen Bell is why I'm interested in The Good Place too, I've always found her very likeable and charming, so it should be fun to see her in this type of role
