There's so many other aspects of VM that I'm more invested in, and personally I never found their first kiss particularly special, for all the hype that it gets. First time watching I didn't get into L/V much at all, on rewatch I did appreciate their chemostry more and I enjoyed them reuniting in the movie, but at the same time they're not even close to being one of my favourite couples
3. I think that Duncan's character had potential early on when they were exploring how he was on antidepressants and messed-up over losing his sister. I was disappointed in how they tried to turn his character into a boring generic male lead in season 2, still he did have a good exit and I would have liked to have seen him in the movie, or if any future versions of VM want to follow up on his story
4. I don't get the dislike for season 3, I don't think I've ever seen such an extreme reaction to a television series before! I came at it from the perspective of hearing that you should save yourself the pain of watching it, that it's not just bad for VM, that it's terrible television full-stop, so I was taken-aback at how much I enjoyed it. There were obviously a lot more missteps that season, and some of the arcs worked better than others, but it was still reasonably enjoyable television IMHO and still recognisably VM
5. I don't get how Veronica was supposed to be a terrible person in season 3, she seemed the same as ever to me? And I dont mean that in a bad way lol, I really liked her character always

Date: 2015-02-09 11:03 pm (UTC)I love all Veronica/Weevil action. There totally should have been more and I would have loved to seen them together.
And I agree. I find L/V an interesting couple and dynamic and I like Logan, but everything about there relationship always comes back to Veronica for me and not the two of them together.
And yeah...Duncan. So much potential there and not enough follow through. He really was interestng in S1, IDK why they didn't follow through with so many story lines they already had in S2.
I never got the hate for S3 either. S1 will always be my favorite and imo opinion the best done, but S3 was still very much VM's to me. None of the characters changed, only some of the places (college vs high school) and like you said Veronica didn't change especialy.

Regarding Duncan, the actor talked about the part a bit when the movie came out, he said that he was deliberately playing Duncan in a dulled-down state because of the anti-depressants, but apparently the network had stepped in by season 2 and asked for the character to be played in a more upbeat big man on campus kind of way. I think the show had lose its grasp on the character by then
And yes, season 1 was always the best, but I don't understand the ranting and anger that you often hear whenever later seasons of VM are discussed. They didn't have such strong emotional beats, but IMO they all had something to recommend them, just as long as Kristin Bell was there to deliver snark as Veronica investigates!

Date: 2015-02-11 11:16 pm (UTC)Yeah, I heard about that with Duncan (though I forgot about it), that there was pressure from the network, but I wish they could have convinced them or somehow weaved the storylines in there. I mean, its not like they didn't include plenty of Logan's screwed up life. So why not show how screwed up Duncan's life was too? I mean his parents thought he murdered his sister and covered it up. Why was there never more to that?
I totally agree. All the seasons had something really good about them, good episodes that just made you really sit up and watch. And of course like you said, as long as Veronica was there, that's what mattered.
