Okay I tried to post a link to the article "The CW Renews ALL 11 Series For Next Season, Including Veterans ‘Supernatural’ & ‘The Vampire Diaries’", but I kept being told that deadline is 'banned for spam' for some reason?

But anyway, awesome news! I was starting to worry about iZombie as so many people seemed convinced that the ratings were pretty terrible and it was at risk, so I'm pleasantly surprised that we're getting a third season. And I'm still here for The Vampire Diaries of course! Although I do hope that we will get confirmation on whether the 8th season is going to be the last or not, I'm not sure that it needs a 9th or 10th season, but I definitely wouldn't have been ready to let it go after this season when there's been no real build-up to it being the end

It feels strange that I only watch two CW shows these days actually, I used to watch four or five of their shows, but I'm not as into the superhero shows that they've been focusing on lately I suppose. Lol I know I'm too old for them these days, but I can't help wishing that they would bring back at least one high school focused teen show to their schedule, the WB and CW used to be known for those shows after all! Still I suppose that you can't really blame them for sticking with the male demo instead, those shows do seem to do a lot better for them ratings-wise

Huh, I wonder how much of a deal breaker that is (selling a show ending on a cliffhanger vs properly ended). Either way, that would be really nice if true.

That's what I always heard was the reasoning for Nikita getting a final season of 6 episodes, so that it could have a proper conclusion for Netflix. Just googled it and http://www.webpronews.com/netflix-is-helping-shows-get-endings-2013-11/ goes into it more

Thanks for the link. I'm all for whatever gives everyone closure. I honestly am starting to think upfronts should be a bit earlier or at least networks should call the shots earlier and let showrunners know "hey, there's a strong possibility that your show won't be renewed you should wrap things up". This explains iZombie and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

My only problem with TVD is that I really miss it being focused on women now that Elena's no longer on the show. Though I always wanted it to be more about Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie's friendship than I think it ever was.

The Originals continues to do well at having the women having relationships outside of the men, like with Cami and Hayley lately.

I know what you mean, I am really invested in the Stefan/Damon brotherly relationship and am happy that it's getting focus, but there's definitely something missing now that Elena is gone. It feels like the show has shifted, that Stefan and Damon are very much the emotional focus now and the centre of the show, whereas before Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, Matt, Tyler, Jeremy as the core group of high school friends from Mystic Falls were also something that the show was centred around. And now the human connection isn't really there as much, Bonnie and Caroline's characters are more about how they connect with the lives of Damon and Stefan

I suspect they went the Bonnie/Enzo route because they wanted to pair Bonnie with a Damon-like character to try to appease the Bamon fans without actually putting her with Damon. It didn't work and most fans hated it so I imagine they do regret going there which is why we didn't see much of it after those first two/three episodes. I think the actors had a smattering of chemistry (Kat Graham seems to have chemistry with everyone) and the writers could've made something of it if they bothered developing it but they didn't so it just feels really awkward.

Caroline and Alaric was a mess to begin with and I hope they end up revealing that they're not actually a couple but merely got engaged to stop people from asking too many questions/to give the girls a more stable home environment. If, on the other hand, they try to sell us on Caroline/Alaric having fallen for one another over the 3 years we missed, it'll be really hard to backtrack on that and put her back with Stefan. So you're right that they really painted themselves into a corner with that one.

Yeah that seems likely, although they should have known that you can't just duplicate one ship by treating the characters as interchangeable, Bonnie barely had any scenes or history with Enzo before this season!
