This kinda amazes me, since the comic book (ie: CANON) has been 'shipping Clark/Lois and Lex/Lana since....forevah.......

Is this - smallville's "take" on the superman mythos - the reason many superman comic fans dis SV?

What amazes you, do you mean Clois and Lexana not having more votes?

When even SV fans diss SV, it's difficult to pin down just why comix peeps do it, but back when SV was great (S1-S3) I heard the dissing by comix fans based upon whatever "Canon reality" they'd grown up with or liked the best, because, for instance, in the Silver Age when I grew up, Lexana would never have occurred and CLois was always hinted at but never achieved.

Yes - that Clois and Lexana don't have more votes and that, in the face of canon, Clark/Chloe 'shippers keep right on 'shipping. :-)

Of course, you must also understand that the questions are easier for me to ask, since I don't regularly watch Smallville; I'm not invested in any of the 'ships, except the canonical ones...:)

SV has never followed the canon exactly though, hence Clark losing his virginity to Lana Lana, instead if Lois

When did they do Lex/Lana in the comics?

I used to ship Clark/Lois for the longest time -- then they actually brought Lois onto the show.

Way, way back. One of the panelists at Phauxcon two years ago did a fascinating presentation on the history of all the 'ships in the Superman mythos. Not having ever been into the Superman thing (Batman fan, here.), but whose spouse was into Superman's story, I was fascinated to learn that, in the comic books, Lex and Chloe were a 'ship.

My husband, who's watched a few more SV's than I, told me that he stopped watching because he thought Lois looked considerably older than Clark, and he just couldn't buy them together. (I always love it when guys turn out to be 'shippers. :-) )

Impossible, as Chloe was never around in the comics. (Unless one subscribes to the Chlois Theory - given that Chloe is taken pretty much wholesale from the Lois Lane arc in World of Metropolis. And even then, Lex and that Lois were not a ship.)

Interesting; I know plenty of people who ship Chlark (or are Chloiser and ship 'Clois' that way by default) in part because they reject EDLo as a viable option [either as a LI or as Lois herself]; it's always interesting to hear another take on it from outside the fannish realm.

Clex and Lexana all the way, for me. ♥

I do like Chloe and Lex on very rare occasions, and Clark and Lex sometimes, and really like Lana and Lex, but my heart belongs to Chloe and Lionel, the 'a'int never gonna happen' 'ship.

OMGZ! Someone else who ships Chlionel! We are a rare (and probably kinda disturbed) breed.

Which obviously makes us awesome.

Lol it's confusing because of all the C's and L's! So then you get Chlark, Clex, Chlex *scratches head*

I'm a major ship h0. So I tabbed off Chlark (OTP BABYYY), Lexana, Chlex (my first love), Clex (I miss the GAY), and Mionel (I can't believe there are actually 7 other people who like it! O_O).

Also I find it criminal that there is no option for Chlionel. Where is my 'so wrong it's right' pairing? Where is the option for all the dirty!bad!wrong love? Hee!

Chlark, Lexana, and Clex are all excellent choices! I don't know about Mionel.

I liked the idea of it back in season 2. But then it was really rushed in late season 5, and the thanksgiving episode put me off for life :/ Martha cheating on Jonathon, during season 2 with Lionel, would have been awesome though...

This is tough! I wasn't sure how many I should pick.. so I just went with my top two. But I could have easily added Lexana, Clois, and Chlex as ones that I don't really mind and often enjoy reading. I'm just too wishy-washy.

I'm surprised at how popular Chlex seems to still be actually!

I'm not sure I ship anyone. Clark and Chloe are great as friends but I don't put a lot of thought into them as a couple. I don't come to Smallville for shipping. Now ships I hate, that gets easy... Clark/Lana, Chloe/Jimmy, Clark/Lowis, Lex/Lana.

Obviously I ship Lexana with a side of Clex. I'm all about Lex and his obsessions. :) Clois and Chlark have grown on me, but I'm not heavily invested in either one. Now, with fanfic, it's kind of a free-for-all.

I tagged Chlark (of course!)Chlex (my heart won't let go) and Lexana (evil is hott). I like old school Clex, but didn't pick it because it's just not what it used to be :\ *hugs season 1*

I used to root for Clark and Chloe in the early seasons. I remember being so ticked off when Clark left Chloe at the dance to go and save Lana in Tempest. Never did like clana, not for one second. They were just so wimpy around one another, nauseating. Not much has changed. I really like clana in the comics though. I've collected some comics for the very reason that they have cute clana scenes in them. So in general I don't hate clana atall, I just can't stand SV clana. I think it's because I don't feel the chemistry between Tom and Kristin. I've seen glimpses of it off-screen but it all seems to fly out the window on-screen. But that's just my opinion.
