My toothache is getting so bad that I couldn't sleep last night. My filling fell out last monday, there's a huge hole. The dentist said it's infected, and after jabbing me with a needle five or six times decides I have to get the hospital to remove it. Who knows when the NHS will get me an appointment, and my gum feels so sore :/

It's throbbing! Poor poor me

I was expecting a letter so I would at least have some idea of when my appointment is. But they haven't contacted me at all and it's frustrating me

I'd ring your dentist to find out what he's done and how long he exects this to take.

Oh, Lord! You have my entire sympathy. I hope the NHS acts more swiftly than you fear. I hope you are not offended if I pray for you.

It's aggravating me that it's unnecessary pain. It wasn't that bad at first, but as it's been left to linger it's become so painful.

And not at all, thank you :) I hope your praying works!

NHS is your country's medical system? Is there anyway to put up a little cash to speed things up or go to a private clinic and get the govt. to pay some of the cost? (Luckily, my company has dental insurance though I do end up paying a chunk of the cost)

I've brought ibuprofen to take, but nope no painkillers actually prescribed. Antibiotics (sp?) for the infection, but not helping with the pain. I'd have get the painkillers for free if it was an NHS dentist prescription as well...

[mom mode]Yes, but have you actually *taken* the ibuprofen?[/mom mode]

[daughter-in-law of a nurse mode]If you have some aspirin and/or (wait for it . . .) paracetamol (!), you can cycle them around. Take the ibuprofen, wait two hours, take the aspirin, wait two hours, take the paracetamol, wait two hours, then go back to the ibuprofen and repeat.[/daughter-in-law of a nurse mode]

Oh jeez, you've got my sympathies. I've been having wisdom tooth troubles myself recently. Teeth are a pain the butt (well, in the mouth, really), you'd think evolution could have developed something more efficient.

Don't nod too much, shaking your head can make a toothache worse. ;) Like I said, teeth are a pain.
