I still can't believe that people go for the digital copies instead of DVDs (well, except for ease and getting it asap, of course). With DVDs, you get multiple language versions, subtitling and all kinds of extras, usually for about half the price of the digital copy. A lot more value for your money.
Generally I prefer buying films as digital copies (well unless there's a really nice steelbook or deluxe version that I want to own), just because of the space issue. Also on iTunes they usually came with the same extras as the physical copies anyway these days. But with tv I've found that most of the time you don't get any of the special features with the iTunes release, or it will just be like one featurette maybe, whereas I need the commentaries, deleted scenes, gag reel etc as well! Plus I like having the boxsets arranged on my shelf for my favourite shows *g*
And it's definitely a lot easier to find good deals with DVDs, whereas the prices seem very fixed for the digital copies, whether you go with iTunes or Amazon they're nearly always the exact same prices. Costs can mount up fast when you get a few seasons of one show, The Good Wife was £29.99 for each season from what I remember, and I brought five seasons at that price...It's pretty depressing when you compare it to the much better deals you get with the DVDs :(
Yeah, I also buy a lot of digital copies, whereby I do it a lot less now that I have Netflix. I still buy stuff on DVD, but usually it's stuff that doesn't get sold on the German streaming market, like comedies with more complex humor that doesn't translate well than stuff like the Big Bang Theory or most family sitcoms. (I love living in Germany, but the lack of a sense of humor is NOT a stereotype. ;-))
