Ugh, I hated the Owen=Sam twist. I loved Owen and his friendship with Nikita and all their history. Everything about him/them that was so fascinating got erased when he became Sam. Maybe I could've accepted it if they show had more time to develop it but as it stood, I just really, really hated that storyline.

I loathed Roan and Percy but they were excellent villains and I was very pleased that the writers knew not to keep them around indefinitely.

(I don't remember if you watch Killjoys but the actor who played Roan plays a Percy-like character on that show and it is delicious. I hate his character so much!)

My guess is that originally they were expecting to have more time to tell Sam's storyline, Gossip Girl got 13 episodes for their last season the year before, so I think that everyone was surprised that Nikita got just six episodes which you could barely call a season at all. They mostly did a good job with it of course, but Sam/Alex definitely felt really rushed to me, you needed more than a mini-series to wrap up what they were trying to do there with Sam's character. It was a real shame that the show never got the time to deal with Nikita's past with Owen, and to bond a bit more with Sam
