Okay I tried to post a link to the article "The CW Renews ALL 11 Series For Next Season, Including Veterans ‘Supernatural’ & ‘The Vampire Diaries’", but I kept being told that deadline is 'banned for spam' for some reason?

But anyway, awesome news! I was starting to worry about iZombie as so many people seemed convinced that the ratings were pretty terrible and it was at risk, so I'm pleasantly surprised that we're getting a third season. And I'm still here for The Vampire Diaries of course! Although I do hope that we will get confirmation on whether the 8th season is going to be the last or not, I'm not sure that it needs a 9th or 10th season, but I definitely wouldn't have been ready to let it go after this season when there's been no real build-up to it being the end

It feels strange that I only watch two CW shows these days actually, I used to watch four or five of their shows, but I'm not as into the superhero shows that they've been focusing on lately I suppose. Lol I know I'm too old for them these days, but I can't help wishing that they would bring back at least one high school focused teen show to their schedule, the WB and CW used to be known for those shows after all! Still I suppose that you can't really blame them for sticking with the male demo instead, those shows do seem to do a lot better for them ratings-wise

Well, they basically did the same last year, if I remember correctly.

These days, I'm only watching The 100 and I'm only finishing this season. I won't be watching next year whether it ends up being cancelled or not.

CW did basically the same thing last year, but it's still funny to see the entire lineup renewed - especially shows like crazy ex-girlfriend and reign that do absolutely terrible in the ratings.

I think it would be a good decision to end TVD next year, I'm only mildly enjoying this season - I very much prefer and am way more invested in The Originals ( S3 has been awesome). I kept hearing all these rumors that Ian wanted to leave TVD after this season too, but either they worked something out or he's still leaving and they are keeping it quiet.

Not sure if this show could stay interesting if they lose the Damon character along with already losing Elena bc while I did like the build up to the Stefan/Caroline relationship - they aren't working for me as a main couple. In fact, since they've gotten together it's like all their chemistry disappeared, I haven't the faintest idea what happened there. ( I get that once a couple gets together, it's natural that chemistry tones down a bit, but these two went from interesting to dullsville fairly quickly :/ )

edit: ok for some reason my comment originally posted to another comment on this post, no idea what happened there. lol

I would love a high school focused show as well, even though I'm probably way too old too ;) But I always loved those kind of shows, One Tree Hill is still one of my favorites of all time. I love the superhero shows though, so I'm quite happy with the CW shows these days :)

Yeah I remember everyone being surprised last year as well, they definitely don't like to let shows go it seems!

Interesting, I haven't heard those rumours, but Ian and Paul both always seem very over it in conventions, so I remember being surprised that Nina was ultimately the cast-member revealed to be leaving. Paul did say something about getting the chance to direct being an added incentive though, and presumedly Ian feels the same way? I can't see the show continuing without Damon, he's always been the show's main draw

And I know exactly what you mean, it's disappointing because the build-up to Steroline was beautifully done and I loved their first kiss, but they really have fallen flat this year. Maybe it's partly because of Caroline being pregnant for so much of the year, so it's hard to portray them as particularly passionate together? It's disappointing though because I was defending them from all the claims last year of them lacking romantic chemistry, but this year eh I have to admit that there's something missing

Yeah I love those kinds of shows that are *all* about the characters and focusing on their character development each season, and it's hard to find that much outside of the teen genre (maybe soap operas I guess?) Usually most shows will have another hook, so that you're following the characters more in whatever line of work they're in

One Tree Hill is probably one of the few high school shows that I haven't seen actually, but I was very into Dawson's Creek, The O.C, and Gossip Girl.

I watch almost all shows on the CW, so this is great news for me XD
I was worried about iZombie, too. and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend tbh. Winning awards hasn't stopped networks from cancelling shows before. but I'm glad the CW is clinging to theirs XD

I think their last High School show was The Carrie Diaries (... or Starcrossed?) which I actually really liked. But sadly didn't get more than 2 seasons.

Which reminds me that I still have S2 of iZombie to watch XD
I'm more into the superhero-based CW shows and usually watch about 3-4 of their shows at once (though I binge-watch most of them). The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow I watch regularly and I binge watch Arrow and iZombie.

Yeah, I was really surprised they renewed some of those. The Originals was the one I was worried about since it's the lowest rated show I actually watch. (I think? I don't watch Crazy Ex and I dropped JtV, iZombie, and Reign.)

I definitely think next season of TVD needs to be the last. They've been struggling a lot this season, both creatively and in the ratings. They need to announce it's the final season and take a long time to come up with a decent final arc on which to go out. Though it's been quite a long time since they've had a truly decent show-wide arc.

I don't know if I'd want another high-school show but I do wish they'd shake up their programming a bit. I was hoping Containment would do well but they don't seem to have any faith in that given it's late start date and the fact that they're already billing it as an event series. I'd like to see them do another small-town drama like Hart of Dixie or another female-driven action show ala Nikita. Though both of those shows did awful, ratings-wise :)

I still watch quite a few CW shows. The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, TVD, The Originals, and up until recently, The 100. I may eventually finish out the season but I definitely won't stick around for season 4. Unless they get a new show-runner :)

I'm so glad! I'm watching a lot of CW shows (Jane the Virgin, iZombie, Reign, The Originals), but none of their popular offerings, natch. LOL

I've tried with a few superhero shows now, but I can never seem to get into them. I used to be a really big fan of Smallville and watched all ten seasons, but that's looking more and more like a massive fluke lately lol

I would definitely be here for another show like Nikita, I nearly always enjoy shows when it's the female character who's the one kicking ass. And yeah I agree with you on TVD, maybe season 8 will be an improvement though as they're obviously still having to deal with the ramifications of Elena leaving at the moment and Damon's struggles with that, season 8 could do better once they have more distance from her absence? The three year time jump did seem like a good way of dealing with that at first, but sadly it never really came together

You know, you could have linked tvline's article :D *lol* I always am on tv-line for tv-show spoilers and the likes :D

I know I'm too old for them these days,

I'M sorry, but that's a bit of a lame excuse? I mean, I'm 32 and still love Superhero Shows, even though I'm not in the Superhero Genre at all, but I love Arrow and Flash and Legends of Tomorrow *shrugs* And that has nothing to do with the age in my eyes... but that's just my opinion!

It seems like the CW makes a lot of "strange" decisions lately, though, or doesn't care for ratins anymore, which is a good thing in some ways, because now I'm glad The Originals and iZOMBiE especially got renewed and a lot of my other shows alongside them, but I was worried about those 2 most... not sure about the survival or Reign, as those ratings are at aroun 0.2 - so I REALLY don't get it, but what do I care, right? :P

No you're right, I do absolutely enjoy those shows still and will keep watching them, but I guess I just feel a bit dodgy about watching high school focused shows when I'm in my 30's now :P

Amd yeah I can sort of understand renewing Jane The Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend as they have critical praise and awards, even though the ratings are bad, but I am surprised thst Reign is getting another season with its current ratings. The CW likes to see shows through to the end I guess!

I dropped TVD at the end of last season but I've been thinking about getting into it again. Apparently Ian Somerhalder upped his game, or so the comments say. I worried about Jane the Virgin and The 100 (despite the mess that is happening right now) over everything else because the ratings aren't really there and yeah, the CW is very much into superhero stuff right now. Thankfully I'll get another season of heart eyes and knots in my stomach. :D

I wouldn't say I love every show with an action heroine but I do love a lot of them and Nikita was one of the best, imo.

There was so much potential with the 3 year jump but they did so little with it that it feels like a waste. The storyline might improve now that we've actually caught up to the timeline but they had 15 episodes to do a nice slow-burn up to the jump and they just...didn't. Like why bother introducing the Bonnie/Enzo thing in episode 5 when they made absolutely no progress in their relationship by episode 15? Maybe we'll get a flashback or two to explain how they ended up as make-out buddies in the future but it won't be nearly as satisfying as it would've been if they'd taken the time in past 10 episodes to actually develop that relationship.

And it's the same with all of their future storylines. We see the beginnings of Caroline and Alaric raising the twins together but we have no idea why they're engaged. Did they actually fall in love at some point or did they just get engaged to give the twins a more stable home-life or to stop people from asking too many questions? How is Matt still alive in the future when none of his friends were around to protect him? And so on and so on...The show had the perfect opportunity to develop those storylines so we'd actually be invested in this future timeline but they chose not to, for some reason.

I'm happy that the fans of those shows all have something to celebrate :) It always feels a bit of a waste to cut a show off before the story is finished

Yeah I was never sure what they were trying to do with Bonnie/Enzo, it seemed like a possibility for about two episodes after it was first introduced and Bonnie was suddenly attracted to Enzo in the present, then they went right back to keeping the emotional focus centred on Bamon. I suspect that they ended up regretting teasing Bonnie/Enzo after the initial testing of chemistry, but of course the time-jump means that they're now stuck with it as canon and need to figure it out.

Ditto Caroline and Alaric. I don't really know where they can go from here with that pairing, I would be surprised if it is going to be painted as true love, but it's going to be difficult to explain a break-up after they've supposedly been together for years happily raising a family

Yes. At least tv shows have a better shot at being shopped around now, thanks to Netflix and the like. I mean the chances are still astronomically against the shows, but there is an increased chance of a revival.

Yeah from what I've heard selling the rights to Netflix is a big part of why the CW wants to make sure their shows are complete, people are less likely to binge-watch shows that ended on a cliffhanger
