I enjoyed the tone of iZombie a lot as it followed Liv's journey to having to step away from her old perfect life and switch to working at the morgue as a zombie, but managed to somehow still bring in enough humour that it wasn't super dark or depressing. I really liked the performance of the actress playing Liv, I'm usually a huge fan of these sorts of shows anyway that have a directionless young person finding their purpose through the supernatural, while still being cynical and snarky about it. I've seen all the obvious Veronica Mars comparisons, but actually it reminded me even more of the vibe that Dead Like Me had!

Really all of the characters beats were great, Ravi especially when he first finds out about her and is just really exited at having his suspicions confirmed and asking why she's eating hot sauce with the brains lol. The platonic friends vibe there reminded me a bit of Wallace and Veronica from VM (also maybe it was just me, but I got a gay vibe from Ravi?) which should be sweet to follow.

I wasn't super into the procedural part of the show to be honest, it wasn't the most exciting case anyway, and I guess that I'd been picturing it as more Liv deciding to investigate the murders of the people on her own without bringing the police element into it. Still I did like the character of the detective, and I suppose that you can't really expect them to introduce their most exciting cases in the pilot when they're more focused on establishing the show. The crime mystery was still effective in bringing in the fun show-specific things like it turning out that Liv can pick up the languages from the brain that she's eaten

Also I really liked the choice of using the comic book panels to transition between scenes, plus it was a nice change for a CW show to have an actual title sequence for once, instead of just a title card!

I don't watch it, but I saw the actor playing the cop in the trailer and I like him from Breakout Kings. That was a fun show.

I wish all US shows had title sequences. The one from the 100 is so great.

Yeah it's frustrating when they will happily waste time on really long previously's (and I'm never sure how helpful they really are to someone tuning in for the first time!), but somehow don't have the time to put in a 30 second title sequence?! Part of what makes shows like Buffy and X Files stand out in your memory is thinking back to the theme music and title sequences, its a shame that recent shows like TVD and SPN won't have that

I want to see this show. If it reminds of VM and DLM, I wanna see it even more.

I don't have CW however (sucks!). I'll have to find a way online I guess.

It hasn't blown me away or anything so far, but it is a cute show and it has a lot of potential IMO. If you enjoy shows with snarky female protagonists who are young and still finding out who they are, then it should work for you too I would say :)

http://www.cwtv.com/ makes it pretty easy, but they only keep a few episodes, so you have to be current. You can't marathon.

Well, you have to pay some price for universal healthcare.
www.shomi.com has it.

Yeah, it's not worth 8.99 a month.

I haven't watched it yet, but it's on Tivo. I've been looking forward to it because I was a pretty big Veronica Mars fan.

I enjoyed it. I was disappointed that we were 6 months in initially, but I guess we'll get flashbacks, and I suppose that is zombie show tradition to start after and gloss over the initial zombie take over. Not exactly what's going on here, but still.

I was creeped out by her coworker, but that's cool. Wanted to be more impressed with the cop, but there is time. He was fun enough. I do not give a fig for the boyfriend, like her friend, and definitely like Liv. It's like there is some weird trend towards earnestness these days, and I loved her detached bitter vibe.

Oh yeah me too! I'm definitely the most into Liv's story and finding out whatever is up with David Ander's character, rather than the procedural part of the show so far. Still thinking about it, I guess that both Buffy and Veronica Mars also opened their shows with their heroines a little more established in their new life's, and not right after Buffy finds out she's the slayer, or right after Lily Kane was found murdered

Liv and her co-worker were the characters that I enjoyed the most, although the cop also seemed okay, and yeah the boyfriend didn't make much of an impression on me either. Neither did the roommate disappointingly, I hope they're going to spend some more time on their friendship and showing them as close, as their scene in the pilot didn't do a lot for me and I'm normally pretty into the female friendships. I did read that the roommates role was bumped from regular to recurring though, so it doesn't sound like she's going to be a major part of the show

I really liked that pilot and I'll definitely keep watching. I mean, David ANders - for me - was one of the main reason I was looking forward to the show SO much. He's such a great actor and always kills it even though he mostly plays assholes, but I'm looking forward to his "big entrance" and I can't wait to see what he does with the role :D

Other than that, this is going to be a lot of fun... ;-)

On another note: There are quite a few CW Shows that do indeed have title sequences. Not many, but like Reign and The 100 have too for example :D

Yeah David Ander's role looks like it should be a good one :)

And that's cool! I just figured it was something that CW shows had given up on as all the CW shows that I've been following (The Vampire Diaries, Nikita, Gossip Girl, The Flash and Supernatural) just have title cards these days which isn't really the same :(

I really enjoyed it, too! As I was watching I wanted to be able to immediately watch the next episode, even before the pilot was over.

Heh same, I'm only watching The Vampire Diaries these days on the CW, that's quite the difference from when the CW was my main source of shows *g* I know that people make fun of the CW as a network and its lack of success, but it is reassuring to be able to get into a show without having to constantly worry about the ratings and premature cancellation
