I've now been on LJ for exactly ten years today, weird to think about! I know that nearly everyone is now fleeing for ~cooler~ platforms like facebook, twitter, tumblr etc, but no doubt I'll still be here in another ten years time, as long as LJ still exists by then *g*

same here, I'm trying tumblr, but it just isn't as good.

Yeah I've made an effort with tumblr as so many newer fandoms seem to be there exclusively, but I just can't get that into it when I can't talk to people properly and get to know them. I tend to stop by after an episode has aired and reblog some gifs, then forget all about it for a few days, and that's not how I enjoy fandom :(

Congratulations! I've been here since 2001 and I have seen those "cooler" platforms, and I don't feel comfortable there. Twitter seems kind of pointless, I can't figure out how to navigate Tumblr...LJ is like a big comfy chair.

Thanks! Yeah I have tried both twitter and tumblr, but I've never understood why so many people found that they replaced LJ for them. I could understand people enjoying tumblr as well as LJ, but fandom seeming to become nothing but reblogging gifs and pretty pictures is kind of a downer for those who prefer discussions :(

Congrats! I just had mine in August. Crazy! But yeah, I too feel like I'm going to be an lj "lifer". :D

Yeah even if everyone else leaves, I would probably still be hanging around to use LJ to blog on my life *g* It seems a shame to just drop a journal after you've kept it for ten years as a record of your fandom and (occasionally) personal life

Thanks! I remember first joining LJ because of all the links on TWoP to Smallville fic on LJ, and so I eventually decided to get my own LJ as it seemed to be the fandom place to be. Who would have thought that I would still be there ten years later *g*

Everyone's going? What...why...when... How exhausting. I'm staying here. (Although I am on Facebook!)

A lot of people have sadly, especially to tumblr :( And yeah I use facebook for keeping up with family and friends, but LJ is generally my fandom place *g*

I've really fallen behind with commenting these past few months as well, I'm determined to do a better job with it next year and do my part in keeping LJ alive :)

Congratulations! And I know what you mean; I'm on FB and Tumblr but neither of them have the community that LJ has.

Yeah I've found tumblr really hard because I keep trying to get into it since so much of fandom has moved there, but there's just no community there like there is on LJ

I always stick with LJ. I use twitter and facebook. But I don't post as much.

Yeah I have accounts on a lot of other platforms, but LJ is always the one I come back too and use regularly

Still here! I'm on facebook, for family/old friends/etc. I'm on twitter because it's like a big never-closing chat room. I *have* a tumblr but rarely use it because it's ugly and repetitious and BORING, lol.

FWIW, I doubt I'd ever abandon LJ. I may get behind, but it's still the only place to connect with people. I don't feel comfortable sharing my personal life on tumblr or even facebook. This place is still the comfiest place to hang out. I certainly hope it sticks around.

Your post made me look itno when I joined. I guess I'm coming up on five years here. :)

Thanks! And yeah I've always felt more comfortable sharing bits of my personal life on LJ knowing that I can keep it behind friends lock.
