John Barrowman interview http://www.dwscifi.com/articles/show/561

You got to kiss him, though. Do you get to kiss David in the new series?

Well, if I told you that I would be breaking protocol wouldn't I? Russell would probably slap my wrist – or my ass!

Hee, that makes me think of Ianto saying "That's sexual harassment, Sir" *giggles* And Jack sooo has to kiss the Doctor again, I mean he's been so desperate devoted that he even keeps the hand...

And sqeeeee!

You find out a huge amount about him, including a huge secret that you could never ever possibly imagine. When you discover what it is, your jaw will actually hit the floor! I jumped around the room when I read the script. Then I ran into David's trailer screaming, "Oh my God!"

I debated a long time with myself whether to watch that or not, and finally decided to go ahead. OMG... If the Doctor really left after he saw Jack, and don't have a bloody good reason for it, I'd smack him!

Also, I just noticed my icon really does match your colour scheme... LOL!

Heehee. Didn't John introduce himself to David by saying you're even better-looking in real life, and David was all "I think we're gonna get along just fine" *g*

I know!!! The rest of this season is going to be so brilliant

And I noticed also that he said Torchwood Jack will have some more humour to him in season 2, so it sounds like they are taking the fans comments on what worked in TW and what didn't, on board. *cough* Jack/Ianto for next year then *cough* XD

::hits you over the head for saying DW is a kids show:: (in a totally nice way of course) ;)

But it is a kids show! I love DW, but I still say that it is. You get the writers constantly making comments like the adult viewers aren't the priority, it's the 8 year olds opinions of it all that really matters, because they are the ones that the show is really being made for. There's episodes like School Reunion, which changed the setting to a school, in order to make it more relatable for the kids. It's primarily a kids show, just one that adults can appreciate as well. The target audience will always be the kids hiding behind the sofa!

So what if the writers make comments? Showmakers make all sorts of bullshit comments about shows that aren't true. Why should we take their word for it? Particularly when it's so obviously NOT a kids show, in everything and the whole way it's done.

["You get the writers constantly making comments like the adult viewers aren't the priority, it's the 8 year olds opinions of it all that really matters, because they are the ones that the show is really being made for."]

See, that's just talk. Sounds to me like they want to to convince themselves it's a kids show, for whatever reasons. But it so plainly isn't, so they're just talking bull. Their words mean nothing.

["There's episodes like School Reunion, which changed the setting to a school, in order to make it more relatable for the kids. It's primarily a kids show, just one that adults can appreciate as well. The target audience will always be the kids hiding behind the sofa!"]

No, it's primarily a show aimed at adults but designed to appeal to kids as well. Just because they altered stuff to appeal more to kids doesn't mean it's a kids show, just that they want it to appeal to kids too. And School Reunion was an ep primarily aimed at the older fans.

Come on, look at the show, the mentality of it, the way it's done, the themes, it's distinctly NOT a kids show. If it was they wouldn't waste time and effiort trying to sneak in all sorts of sex/romance hints despite the massive protests of the traditional Whoists.

The basic fundamental design of the show is of a show aimed at adults. That's just it, it's obvious and simple. It DOESN'T have the design or style of a kids show. It's designed to appeal to kids too but it sure isn't designed as a kids show, whatever the showmakers might want to convince themselves.

["The target audience will always be the kids hiding behind the sofa!"]

The primary target audience is the ADULTS hiding behind the sofa.

If you know the old Who you can tell the difference, you can see how the new one just isn't a kids show. The old one was (though the writers protested that it wasn't). Kids-show-that-adults-can-aoppreciate-too is the old show, which is VERY different from the modern one. This modern show is an adult show that kids can appreciate too. The "it's a kids show" thng is just a propaganda myth.
