I think it's odd how they would be reluctant to air that when it's all systems go for all the completely sexual things they do show. It's just one kiss!
When I heard about the discrepency between what Julian said and what was filmed, I figured that was what happened. I'm holding out hope that they cut it not because they're being conservative, but because they're trying to build up the anticipation as well as giving Christian the chance to warm up to the idea.
Before the psychiatrist's suggestion, Christian wouldn't even consider an attraction to Sean; now he's dreaming about it and even admitting the dream to his shrink. He's definitely thinking about it now, and I think the cut is as much about Christian's personal journey as it is about giving the viewers what they want.
Speaking of the taboo of kissing, there's also the kissing that *didn't* happen between between Christian and Michelle. Even though I don't think he loves her, I think the attraction is real, and he wants to kiss her - which, remember, he didn't want to kiss the mother/daughter pair when they had that threesome. They accused him of treating them like whores, since whores don't kiss, and that's the same effect we get from the husband telling Michelle and Christian not to kiss - although I think he only said that because it hurt him to see them kiss, because he's in love with Michelle, and he's only acting on what the shrink said and trying to convince himself he's okay with it.
Of course, even if Christian is really in love with Sean, or at least attracted to him, I think he could do so much better. For the most part, Sean has good intentions, but he disrespects Julia in his private actions, and he would probably do the same to Christian - if he'd even agree to sex or a relationship with Christian in the first place. He's not as macho as Christian, but he *is* more conservative in his sexuality.
Just my two/four/six/eight cents, but at least, unlike other shows, this one has CONTINUITY. Plotlines that extend past one week? Hallelujah!

Personally, I thought we were lucky enough to get the dream and the almost kiss, *shrugs*, but then again it's that slow build upon a storyline and also the slow build in a characters journey on the show itself.
Oh I wouldn't have a problem with it if it was Ryan Murphy's idea. But apparently both he and Julian have confirmed that a kiss was originally intended to be included, it's just that network censership forbade it.
I find that disappointing because it sounds like they will never be allowed to build up to a kiss in that case
Yeah, I get what you're saying. It just seems strange to me that they would so an overly abundant amount of sex scenes on this show, but they can't even show a kiss between Christian and Sean, that the network would censor something like this. And if that's the case, then it could be sort of construed as discrimination or something along those lines. Or maybe I'm taking a tad bit too far, but I wasn't thinking about it in that light either.
And you do have a point - a valid one - and one that I hadn't even realized myself until I went back and read through this again.
i didn't realize a kiss was supposed to have taken place last night. I thought they were just teasing us. If they did cut it, than that makes me think they're going to pull away from that storyline, just like they did with Rescue Me.
Hmm, I may have gotten it wrong. I just read at TWoP
It probably was the network, but Ryan Murphy himself said that he was not prepared to sacrifice the "ladylust". What Julian said was that he went for it because Dylan was so uncomfortable in the scene. That means that it was his own decision and not in the script so we can safely assume that it was never intended
