Superman Returns spoilers...

I really loved the film. It was a bit longer than I thought it was going to be though...

I thought Superman and Clark were perfect. I liked seeing him run and enjoy his powers when young. But why did he wear glasses at that age? To prepare for a future life as a superhero???

Loved Lois. I know some people thought she was too soft, but other than the faint, I really liked her. I did think the "how many f's in catastrophe" was lame though. Even if someone thinks that word has a f in it, why would there be two f's??? And I wasn't sure what time it was set in, but there were mobile phones and computers, so presumedly spell-check?

Richard was so sweet. I loved him. It was really nice that they had a character like that to show the best the humanity had to offer. I still hope the sequel has Superman and Lois romance though :D

As for Lex, I thought there was a tendency to go a bit over the top/campy at times, but mostly I liked him. His scene with Lois was pretty good. It's a shame we only got confrontation scene with Superman though. I thought Lex being so sadistic there was interesting, but overall I would have preferred a more cool and calculating Lex.

I didn't like when Lois turned the plane around to save Superman, she should really have gotten her son to safety first. But oh well.

And I know Smallville and SR conferred, so I don't know if there were deliberate references to Smallville, but I noticed Lex referring to mythology just like our Lex does, and Lois saying that Superman never lies, which I took as a sort of wink at Smallville's Clark. Oh and I suppose that Jonathon was killed in season 5, to fit in with the film

Overall I really loved it, and Clark/Superman were my favourites :) I missed the tribute to Christopher Reeves though, I thought there would be one included in the end credits?

The movie was dedictated to Christopher and Dana Reeves, though I forget at what point in the credits this was said.

And I know Smallville and SR conferred, so I don't know if there were deliberate references to Smallville, but I noticed Lex referring to mythology just like our Lex does, and Lois saying that Superman never lies, which I took as a sort of wink at Smallville's Clark. Oh and I suppose that Jonathon was killed in season 5, to fit in with the film

What perplexed me by A&M statements about them meeting with Singer to make sure there were no egregious conflicts between the two is that the Superman films supersedes SV. Jonathan dies in the first film. And that's about it. Lex is like the film Lex, but more evil. Hackman's Lex was too soft because he was an opportunists. I guess prison hardens you. There's no conflicts I could think of that SV would need to address. I think they just wanted to visit the set :)

Superman tells Lois in the first film that he never lies (but Clark apparently does), so I think that was a callback.

They placed it right after the initial run of credits. So after the cast's credits is a tag that says "Dedicated with Love and Respect to Christopher and Dana Reeve". Then the credits continue.

It seemed long when I was in the theater, then the next day I found out it was 2hrs and 45 mins long and I was like "Damn!! 3 hours. No wonder I was restless". I've seen it twice, so I couldn't have been that put out.

And I know! We were sat there for three hours, because something like 15 minutes for the start time advertised was trailers

And ah okay. I thought the tribute was going to be at the end. I was looking at the visuals at the beginning, so I probably missed it..

I know part of the SR/SV collaboration was Al&Miles wanted to see what the Fortress would look like in the movie so they could do something similar.

And Bryan Singer said he deliberately didn't show a teen-aged Clark in the film because he felt that SV had covered that angle well enough. He said that since SV has been keeping the Superman torch alight for the past 5 years he didn't want to step on SV's toes since for many, it's the only knowledge they have of Superman.

Eh, I thought Lois had no personality at all. And she was so, so whiny. I don't understand the way they characterized her at all...she shouldn't be someone who has to whine at her boss like a child to get what she wants, and she shouldn't be someone who would put up with his sexist comments. She made no sense as a character. They gave no sense of her intelligence, or her strength or force. She was a milquetoast, average girl with no sense of humor.

It really makes me sad. I wanted so much for the movie to have a good Lois, but quite frankly the more I think about her, the more I don't really want to see the movie again just because of her.

Thought KB was just really, really bad, too.

Oh that's cool. It's probably for the best anyway, the film was already pushing it for time *g*

Yeah, I thought the film was a bit long too, but I agree BR really shone as both Superman and Clark Kent. (I actually liked his CK better than Chris Reeve's, b/c it was a bit less phony.) (Don't get me wrong, I loved it!)

Great point about the glasses--it hadn't even occurred to me until you mentioned it, but yes, WHY would young Clark need those things?

As for KB, I was on the fence about her at first, but later on she came across as pretty feisty. (As for turning back the plane without dropping off her son--yeah, that bothered me, but maybe she knows Jason can't be hurt?)

And the only "continuity" I saw with SV was the design of the FoS. Everything else seemed to track the original two movies (I did think Lois' remark "he never lies" was a direct reference to Margot Kidder's "interview" with CR's Supes.)

KS's Lex was very enjoyable, but I would've liked more scenes with BR's Supes. And I couldn't help thinking how MR would've played the scenes, so I'm sure that distracted me. Overall, I think SV's take on Lex is much more interesting (at least, as originally conceived. :/)

I went into the film expecting her to annoy me, but I thought she did fine in the journalism role. She was a bit whiny over Superman, but then I always think of Lois as quite dreamy and lovestruck over him anyway *g*

Lois from L&C used to watch romance with a box of tissues, while kicking ass in her professional life. Sort of the contrast to how Lois will get around Superman. And he did just took off without a goodbye. Plus it would seem that he had spend the night with Lois, and left her pregnant, before taking off with no goodbye...

I've actually never seen the original films :/ I half wish they hadn't gone for a sequel. I'd have loved this film to have Clark and Lois's first meeting and develop the beginning of the romance for their characters. I mean in SR they don't even end up together! And there's just the one fly and almost kiss to explore their chemistry. And with Clark and Lex not having much of a connection either...

I have to say that Clark/Superman was the best part over everything else. Brandon Routh was totally perfect. And he's such a cutie *g*

The movie was dedicated to both Christopher and his wife and I think that appeared at the end of the credits but I could be mistaken.

The dedication was in the credits right after the cast...it said "This film is dedicated with love and respect to Christopher and Dana Reeve" or something like that.

I found most of the references made were to the original films (which I saw when they first came out - eek, *is old!*) and the 'original' mythology set up in those were what struck me as I saw this one.

Clark is supposed to have developed his powers over time as he gets older, so he is supposed to have worn glasses as a child (and been hopeless at sports - which they made reference to with Jason) and as his powers developed he didn't need glasses etc. In the original comics etc - he just starts out very strong, and the other things come later. I think that's what they were making reference to.

I didn't dislike Lois - but there was something really wierd about her hairline which kept distracting me. And what on earth did they do to her hair that made it look like dreadlocks at one point!!!

Oh right. Now I remember it was there. I knew it couldn't have been completely at the end. Thanks.

And yes, he really is. When I first saw the promos and first pictures for the movie I didn't really have an opinion on the guy but since seeing the movie I think he's a hottie :D I'm gonna have to go see the movie again.

The credits at the end of the film? Oh everyone had left by then *g* I was expecting the film to end with the tribute, but once the credits came up, everyone took off

But if he's an alien, why would he need glasses? And they're designed for human eyes anyway, what good would they do?

What were the Kent's thinking with taking him to an optician? In Smallville he's never sick, and never goes to the Doctor even, in case it's discovered that he isn't human.

It was great to see Peta. She looked awesome. I miss LFN.

I didn't even notice how long the movie was. I was pretty engrossed. I thought Brandon did an excellent job, both as Clark and as Superman. I felt more of an emotional connection with him than I did in the other movies.

My sister warned me not to watch SV before seeing the movie. But I didn't listen. And for the most part it didn't affect my enjoyment. But I found myself really missing Michael's Lex throughout most of the movie. He is far more compelling and complex to me.

Hopefully in the sequels we'll get to see more interaction between Clark and Lois. I missed that.

I've been confirmed they aren't at the very end of the credits. They start with the major characters/actors and then the tribute appears before the credits follow in on stunt doubles and crew and stuff.
