What's everyones favourite Doctor Who episode from the past season?

I think mine is either Father's Day or the finale. I was going to ask as a poll on Sparklies, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. Probably the Dalek episode or The Doctor Dances would win anyway. Dreamwatch gave Father's Day a 2 out of 10 rating *sigh*

2 out of 10? But... but... how? I caught 'Father's Day' last night on BBC3 and it's just impossible to watch without crying! (Well, for me at least.) It's such a beautiful, heartbreaking and yet uplifting episode.

I don't think I could pick a favourite though... although I might choose the finale. If nothing else, then for the kisses! ;)

They were going on about it being too corny, and unearned emotion, from what I remember. They seemed to think awarding it a 2 was being generous. Grr

I liked Father's Day! I thought it was a great eppy. My favorite ones are The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances cos they scared the shit out of me!

Me too :)

And yeah they were definitely scary! They're the episodes that all the critics seem to rate highly (along with Dalek and the finale)

Dreamwatch can be stupid. Just look at the high score they gave to 'As you were' at the time. Their reviewers often have no taste.

And oh yes, just to be the odd one out, Boomtown.
I happen to like Mickey and him, captain Jack, Rose and the Doctor in one ep... Fantastic!

I wasn't really a fan of the farting aliens *g* Boomtown was a lot better than the original two-parter though

I remember Dreamwatch doing a thing about Buffy season 6 ending with Buffy alone in a darkened room with someone saying, "I'm so sorry I failed you". Eh

What didn't you like about the characterisation, the flirting with Jack?

Which scripts were written by RTD?

And hmm I see what you mean, but I'm not sure that I'd agree :p I've heard it said before that she was out of character in those episodes, so I thought I'd grab you for an explanation *g*

The scene where she's asking the doctor to dance, and talking about him suffering from Captain envy, I agree she was trying to get a rise. But I see it as in the spirit of their previous banter. I think with her attraction to Jack, it did cause her to test the Doctor a little more regarding whether he could be a sexual being with her. But I never felt that she was being hurtful and making the Doctor feel inadequate. It seemed in line with how thier interaction had always been IMO

Oh I don't think Jack did get caught in the middle. I think Rose is genuinelly attracted to both men *cough OT3 cough*

And weird AoL/WW3, and The Long Game are my least favourite episodes...

The Slitheen were rubbish. I really didn't like the original two-parter.

Oh I didn't mind her. I thought the bits with her and the doctor were pretty funny.

Wasn't it decided to not be true though? I think Rose borrowed his nasty coat for the new promo pics *g*

Just as long as Jack and Rose come back, I'm happy

Well I have an instinctive feling that he will be back. But yeah for a while it was being said Jack wouldn't be in season 2 :/ So not definite by any means.

I'm so excited about the new doctor, I think he's going to be fantastic!

The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. They were a rare near-perfect two hours of TV.

For some reason a lot of people didn't like Father's Day. It made me weep like a baby, though. I consider that the mark of a good episode but it was kind of hard to watch.

Really? I thought it was just Dreamwatch being out of touch.

I guess maybe the old school fans might not like it as much, but I loved it

Hmm it's up there. Let me think... I definitely liked the gas mask boy one... "mummy!!" Scared the shit out of me!

The finale probably... boy did I sob when Christopher Eccleston left!
