I voted for the third option BTW. If there's an interesting discussion I always forget to go back to it unless I leave a comment and then it jogs my memory when I see the e-mail in my inbox.
I do that a lot with Buffy posts on my flist, don't know if people have noticed lol. I leave an insignificant brief comment and then get the e-mail comment alert which reminds me to go back later when there's lots of discussion happening.
