Heh true, I'm always a bit surprised when it comes to fans selective memories of the show only taking a turn for the worst with season 7 after Amy left, I really disliked the second half of season 6 and how miserable everything got with Luke and Lorelei. From what I've read there were BTS reasons for the show taking a darker turn though, I'm hoping for the quality of seasons 1-5 again now that everyone will be coming back to the show in a positive frame of mind
Honestly in some ways I prefer season 7 over 6, you could definitely tell that something was missing with the sharpness and wit of the writing, but it also had more heart to it and felt like the writers were trying their best to fix season 6. (I was an early Christopher/Lorelei shipper, but NOT a fan of how things went for them in those seasons). The finale worked pretty well for me in terms of closure actually, I was surprised to read the actors feeling that it had an unfinished feel about it, for me it was never a show that was calling out for a final wrap-up or anything IMO, I'm mostly just thrilled at this news because it gives us chance to revisit the characters again! It will be nice for Amy to be the one to tie things up this time though, and finally use those infamous 4 letters
