Very behind, but I've finally caught up on season 4 of The Vampire Diaries!
One thing I really don't get is Stefan seeming to go along with Damon's suggestion for Elena to turn her humanity off. This is the guy that told Jeremy in early season 2 that you can't live without feeling nothing forever, that eventually you have let it all back in, and you only end up feeling worse than you did in the first place because you have all the extra guilt from the things you did when your switch was off. So why is it a good thing for Elena to turn her humanity off again? All it's doing is just delaying her grief, she's going to have to let back in eventually
Also the sire bond is confusing me, it seemed straightforward enough at first (if a little too convienient that it would affect Damon and Elena when it never did Caroline), but they haven't really done the best job of showing Elena being bonded to him. It did feel a bit out of character how soon she slept with Damon after breaking up with Stefan, and how quickly she seemed to lose all feelings for Stefan, so I'm assuming that they're going to bring the triangle back into it eventually and have it so that Elena's feelings were somewhat affected by the sire bond and that was why only her feelings for Damon were magnified and not for Stefan. But then there hasn't been any strong examples of Elena wanting to 'make Damon happy', other than the blood bag that she couldn't drink until he convinced her. I don't know if it's because they want to keep it ambiguous for the triangle, or if there just isn't a sire bond after all, but Elena never really seems controlled or swayed by Damon? More simply wanting to make him happy because she is in love with him.
Idk I do miss Stelena though and lol the trailer for 419 has me secretly hoping for some ~epic~ moments of Stefan helping bring Elena back to her humanity, cause yeah? Still my favs, even if it has been hard to feel the love for them so far this season. I used to see chemistry between Delena too back in season one and in the third season build-up, but their whole relationship has felt so weirdly understated this season. It's not really how I expected them to be together, and it seems..odd for the show to downplay the chemistry so much when it's supposed to be based around a triangle and being torn between two couples. Instead they did a pretty convincing job with writing Stefan and Elena as over it and cold towards one another, and Delena weren't all that rootable either IMO when they spend most of the episodes telling us that Elena was being influenced by the Sire bond and was probably going to change her feelings for him once she got the cure (and bull what they had Tyler say about it only affects how you act, not how you feel. I remember him raving on about Klaus back in season 3 when he was still sired to him)
And urgh, they are ruining Lexi for me. I loved her so much back in her season 1 episode, and I was already iffy on making her torture Stefan in season 3, but this season she is actively pissing me off with her interfering with Damon wanting to bond with Stefan again, just because she decides that Damon is no good for his brother. Nearly everyone adored her character in season 1 as a fun-loving friend of Stefan's, I don't know why they had to retcon her into this interfering "Florence Nightengale" character. Side note but also I miss season 1 where the older female vampires like Pearl and Lexi could easily overcome Damon and were stronger than him on account of being several hundred years older, and now Rebecca is supposedly an Original vampire and Damon seems stronger than her most of the time wtf
And shallow commentary is shallow, but I'm soo glad that Elena got a new haircut lol. I don't know what it was because her hair looked nice enough in the first two seasons and it's not like it was drastically different then, but ever since season 3 her hair looked so flat and long and boring that in most of her scenes I keep itching to take a pair of scissors to it :P The new cut and fringe is so much cuter
Does anyone have any recs for good Elena video's from this season BTW?
And thanks to
youcallitwinter for linking this! I've never watched The Good Wife before, but that clip referencing The Vampire Diaries fan fic had me LMAO

Date: 2013-04-01 11:35 pm (UTC)I didn't like how Elena was acting but now I'm enjoying the way she is. I hate how both Salvatore's want to 'fix' her - it's all become just a circle and a runt. :x Still not loving this season overall though - might be an unpopular opinion though. I'm happy Katherine is back though :D I always love Katherine no matter what <3
As for Elena videos - I'm really picky about them but here's a couple:

http://youtu.be/QJZ3fBap0P8 (Elena & Katherine)
http://youtu.be/2m-4NMtIKuY (Elena)
That's all I have right now. I have a lot of Katherine vids :x

Date: 2013-04-01 11:47 pm (UTC)I was interested in this season and Elena becoming a vampire at first, and I've been enjoying these last few episodes more as well with switched-off Elena, but things did drag for me a bit in the middle with the search for a cure. It felt like Elena's character got lost ever since they mentioned the sire bond but then didn't really do anything with it, and I hate when they favour plot over characters. But then things stepped up for me again after Jeremy's death

Date: 2013-04-02 10:53 pm (UTC)And I don't really know what's happening with Trevino tbh, from what I read on my flist he's been written out, but that seems odd to me when that means it will only be Elena, the Salvatore's, Bonnie, Caroline, and Matt left. A lot of the show is about Klaus and Rebecca these days anyway and they won't have much going on without them, so once the Original's are gone you'd think they would want to hang on to the cast they have left
