Which tv shows did you start watching in 2012
I watched the first season of Fringe and really enjoyed it. I was kind of braced for a lot of awful MoTW episodes from what I heard about it and how it only gets really good in the second season, so I was surprised to find myself enjoying practically every episode. The one episode I didn't get into at all was the one with Olivia's niece where people were being attacked through their compter screens, but then I was expecting a lot more of the early episodes to be that bad after everything people had said! It wasn't quite must-see tv for me but it was good, I really need to catch up with the second season at some point
Gilmore Girls I caught up on all seven seasons and was surprised at how much I ended up loving it, after originally half-heartedly deciding to watch the first season to see younger Jared (don't judge *g*). I ended up really loving the first four seasons especially and Lorelai, Rory, Emily, Paris, Lane etc, although it did get a bit depressing and drawn-out towards the end. It's funny because I always hear about season 7 being the worst season because the original showrunner had left, but I actually ended up liking that one a little more, it was season 6 that I found a bit too depressing with all of the L/L drama over April. No doubt I'm majorly out of step with fandom opinion actually because Luke and Lorelai didn't do a lot for me, I thought Lorelai had MUCH more chemistry with Christopher. I didn't really care much for Luke or the actor's dour line readings to be totally honest... In general it wasn't really a show that I shipped much on actually, none of Rory's relationships did all that much for me either. It did turn out to be one of my favourite new shows though with some awesome female characters, I really need to re-watch it at some point
I also watched all three seasons of Veronica Mars, it was a show I'd been meaning to check out for ages and I finally got around to it. Good show which I already babbled on about in my LJ earlier
Oh and I started watching Breaking Bad and I'm now all caught up, I checked it out because of the Gossip Girl meme actually lol which is probably a fairly strange way to get into a show like that, but it turned out that all of the praise was well-deserved *g*
I also started watching The Big Bang Theory and enjoyed it, especially Sheldon and Amy! I'm only caught up on seasons 5 and what there is of season 6 so far though, I'm getting the earlier seasons for Christmas prsents :D
Which tv shows did you continue watching or complete watching in 2012
The Vampire Diaries. Supernatural. Nikita. Too many CW shows lol. I need to catch up on their new seasons though, I've fallen really behind lately. And I saw a few episodes of House after Wilson got cancer, but I didn't follow the season as a whole
Which tv shows did you let go of in 2012
Gossip Girl :Spits:
Which tv shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2012. Why?
I watched the first three seasons of Bones and, while it seemed well-done, ultimately it just wasn't my thing. I like the writing and the characters, but the plots themselves often bored me. There were some I really loved like the gravedigger episode from season 2 with Brennan and Hodgins buried alive (LOVED that one) or the gambling episode when Both and Bones go undercover, but the majority of episodes with the more straightforward cases just weren't my thing. Part of me does want to keep following the characters though to see when Bones and Both get together, if Angela and Hodgkins ever work things out, what happens with Zach etc, I just don't want to sit through all of the episode plots to get there *g*
Leverage was the same thing really. I watched it because a lot of people on tumblr were talking about how much they loved the characters and what a fun show it was, so I checked out the first season. It was a decent show and I definitely liked Parker and Hardison a lot, but the individual episode plots weren't really all that gripping to me, so at the moment I'm not inclined to watch past the first season to be honest. It wasn't that it was bad in anyway, but shows with cases of the week format have never appealed to me all that much I suppose. It was kind of cool to see Danny Strong from Buffy in an episode though, that episode I really enjoyed.
Which tv shows do you intent checking out in 2013
Probably Homeland and Teen Wolf. Homeland seems to be an actual good show and one a lot of people on my flist (particulary those watching Breaking Bad) are recommending to me, so I definitely want to try and see the first season at some point. And Teen Wolf seems to be the new fandom favourite, so I'm kind of curious to check out a few episodes of that and see if it grabs me. And maybe The Walking Dead
Which tv shows impressed you least in 2012
The Vampire Diaries. I didn't dislike it as strongly as a lot of people on my flist did and it's still reasonably entertaining to me, but the writing for the triangle did start getting really obvious in late season 3. It spoiled a lot of what I had enjoyed about Elena's connections with the brothers early on to have it all be boiled down to which brother will she choose in the finale
And meh Supernatural seemed a bit all over the place too, it just isn't gripping me like it used too
