I agree with Prophecy Girl, Surprise, Innocence, Earshot (although I might have gone for The Wish instead from season 3), Restless, Fool For Love, Once More With Feeling

Buuuuut....The Zeppo isn't one I would pick. It's such a love or hate it type of episode, and I personally never felt they did all that great a job with Xander's POV at times. The concept of the episode is an interesting one sure, but actually watching that episode is just really boring to me quite honestly, and it also felt a little too over the top in the teaser when Buffy, Willow, and Giles are suddenly so concerned about bumbling Xander putting himself in danger, even though he'd always fought with them in the past. But then I am not much of a fan of Xander or Xander-centric episodes admittedly, and a lot of people in the comments seem to be raving about that episode, so maybe it's just me :shrugs:

And I love Something Blue obviously, but I'm not sure that belongs in the top ten either. It's nothing outstanding at showing what Buffy can do, I'd argue that there are plenty of equally good comedy episodes over the course of the series. I was really surprised that Hush wasn't included from season 4 instead actually. I was also surprised The Body wasn't included. And LOL at Older And Far Away being included as a runner-up, seriously?!?

Oh and I disagree with The Gift being included. It is a great season finale, but one that depends on watching it in context with the rest of season 5, it's not a fantastic stand-alone episode in the way that episodes like Restless and so on are IMO

Becoming and Passion didn't make the Top 10??? >.> I would probably have included either of those instead of Surprise, actually.

OTOH I think Buffy had such a strong run that a Top 10 list is really impractical...

They were both mentioned in the runners-up, but otherwise Surprise and Innocence were the only episodes to make it from season 2. Surprise is one that could have been replaced by Becoming or Passion though definitely

I agree. Innocence definitely should be there but Surprise is just it's prelude to me. Pretty much 75% of the Season 2 eps should be there...except then it wouldn't be a top ten. *g*

I do really love Surprise, but yeah it does get kind of overshadowed by Innocence. I'm surprised the list doesn't go with Innocence for the shock of turning Angel evil and Passion for the shock of the death of a recurring character. Surprise doesn't really have anything that makes it stand out in the same way

I would put both Hush and The Body on any top ten list over the Zeppo (which I seriously have watched only twice I think). I can't believe neither is on this list! Hush is undoubtedly the most acclaimed episode of the series and The Body isn't far behind. I would also definitely put Passion on there.

Yeah I was surprised too because Hush especially almost by default always makes these kind of lists

This list became instantly worthless to me when I saw 'The Body' was not included. Ugh! That episode was a work of art. And no 'Passion', 'Hush' or 'Dopplegangerland' either?

I don't rate 'The Zeppo' either. I never cared much for Xander either but even if it wasn't Xander it was a pretty insignificant episode. I expected better choices from Vanderwerff.

Needless to say I like my own Buffy Top Ten better :) What d'you think?

I love practically all of your episodes! Conversations with Dead People is another episode that really belongs in any top ten

And I've never been a big fan of The Zeppo, but some people do seem to rave over it. I get that it's an interesting concept to have the episode be framed from Xander's PoV, but the execution of it is just kind of boring to me I'm afraid. Betwitched, Bewildered, and Bothered is my favourite Xander-centric eisode

I agree with some of them, but I don't think Something Blue belongs in the top ten ... Where's 'Hush'? That one was seriously amazing ... And while 'The Zeppo' is good, I wouldn't pick it either ... There are other episodes I would have put in that spot.

Something Blue is for me just one of many of season 4's excellent comedy episodes (Pangs, A New Man etc) , but yeah I'm not sure it's a classic worthy of the top ten. Hush would have been a better choice definitely IMO

Av club is a spinoff of the onion and the Zeppo was written by Dan Vebber who was one of the onion's founders. Not crying foul, but maybe there's a shout out happening there?

That might explain it! He only ever wrote that one Buffy episode, right?

He was a staff writer for a season; he got screen credit for one or two. (I was on a convention panel with him once, long story . . . )

Just checked IMDB, and he's also credited with Lover's Walk.

My #1 episode will always be School Hard because it combined the Buffy humour & action to such perfection!
