There is that :/

It's probably not healthy to dislike a fictional character this much lol, but I just can't with the way he speaks to Blair and looks at her like she's dirt beneath his feet. "Always put Blair first", it would be funny if it wasn't so sad and degrading for Blair to yet again crawl back to the man that traded her for a piece of property and is still telling her that material posssessions are worth more to him than Blair

Like I said elsewhere I'm done, unless they turn the show into a whodunit and the show focuses on trying to find Chuck's killer. I think if the show wanted to treat this relationship as an abusive one it could be interesting, but because the writers tend to not recognize the abuse and look at the relationship as an epic love there are so many issues there and quite frankly it's just disgusting.

Blair has mentioned the hotel incident quite a few times, I know a few of us took that to mean that she's done with Chuck, that she's moved on, but now she's not? That is screwed up beyond belief.

It's so bizarre, in last seasons finale she was talking about Chuck treating her like something he owns, and yet they still keep writing her coming to him at the same time as completely deconstructing the relationship and shining a light on how awful it is and how miserable it makes Blair. I mean wtf???

Didn't you know? It's not abuse when it's C/B. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Like I said, if they acknowledged that it is an abusive relationship I'd understand, I wouldn't like it, but I'd understand but to treat it like an epic love story leaves me baffled and pissed off.

Apparently they want us to see Chair as harmful to Blair at the same time as telling us that this is an epic love story, which is what is really disturbing

It really is. I just can only hope you're right and that the writers do see their relationship as harmful.

I just don't understand why they keep emphasising how low Chuck brought Blair (telling Serena that Chuck brought her into his darkness and unable to feel joy, telling Dan that she doesn't know who she is any more since being sold for the hotel), and yet want to write Chair as some kind of star-crossed romance at the same time???

It's so so awful because on one hand it's like they're kind of brushing over all of the awful and "it's not abuse if it's Chuck and Blair", and yet at the same time they bringing in lines about Blair feeling like a lost little girl around Chuck, telling us how hard the IP hit her etc, so they must know on some level that it IS an abusive and horribly dysyfunctional relationship that Blair should not keep returning too. I don't even know if they want the audience to root for them or not, but I guess they must or why keep returning to Blair begging for Chuck's love in both 422's finale and in 524

Nothing about the narrative arc this season makes any sense to me but I guess my mistake was assuming in the first place that there would even be a narrative arc???

I don't even know if they want the audience to root for them or not, but I guess they must or why keep returning to Blair begging for Chuck's love in both 422's finale and in 524

I really don't know either. :\ And I feel like D/B WAS purposely written as the ship to root for in the back half of this season (right down to the "I want the next person I say I love you to to be the last" - which I guess was supposed to be Chuck all along? LMAO THIS SHOW, YOUR NARRATIVE CLUES WERE DONE SO WRONG) so... idek man. :\ I'M TRYING TO FIND SENSE IN NONSENSE AGAIN. Maybe this is just another anvil that Dan is better for Blair than Chuck? But even the most ardent Blair fans (and I say this as one of them) can't really justify the way she strung Dan along when she knew deep down it would only be Chuck. "You have nothing to worry about Dan." GURRRRL.

:/ And really I don't get why the shippers are cheering and so happy for that clip on youtube, it's not a good thing for Dair OR Chair. It basically consists of Chuck telling Blair that she's not enough for him and putting his business before her again, in what world is that a positive sign for the writers reuniting Chuck and Blair?? The writing is calling attention to Chuck not making Blair happy and Blair not being enough for Chuck ~meant2be~ right there

Maybe this is just another anvil that Dan is better for Blair than Chuck?

I actually wouldn't be surprised by that, I've always felt that the writers are setting up a forever alone Chuck in the finale with his millions and not the Chair endgame that fandom was predicting, but everything has been handled so horribly that I can't see that many shippers are going to care if they bring it back to Blair settling for Dan in season 6, which is all it can be at this point when she's still proclaiming her love for another man. LOL I can't wait to see the season 6 ratings, that is all

lol apparently the episode ends with Blair meeting up with Jack and Chuck at a casino with chips for Chuck that will help him win back his company from Bart and presumably help Chuck take her back so basically -

fuck off gossip girl.

AND the man he tried to sell her to.

None of this should be surprising because it's Gossip Girl and "it's not abuse when it's Chuck and Blair" but I still feel like I've landed in some bizarre AU world.

Well it is a soap, so I'm not exactly shocked.

I'm more sorry for Lily and Rufus - I'm sure this makes their marriage invalid.

It really doesn't but I can actually accept that as soap logic. We won't go into why I didn't touch the rest though...

It was even worse than I thought it would be!! Dan was asking Blair if she still loved Chuck, she insisted she didn't, and then went to Chuck to declare her love for him without even breaking up with Dan first!!

And then at the end she talks about how CHUCK was fighting for her all year and she is now all-in. Dair didn't get a proper break-up scene, Blair broke up with him by email :/

I cannot even process this really. Just a few episodes ago the show kept emphasising how Blair lost herself with Chuck, how being sold for his hotel left emotional damage that she's still healing from. And now she is crawling back to him and saying she will fight for him all next season? This is the most blindsided I have EVER been by a show, all of the narrative clues about Chuck bringing Blair into his darkness are apparently to be ignored because Blair is now suddenly declaring that she was never happier than when she was with Chuck???
