I voted Adelle, but really it's Adelle/Topher tied for me. Hmm maybe I should have offered multiple choice *g* It's funny cause I couldn't stand Topher in season 1, he reminded me of Warren from Bts in a creepy way. Then Epitaph One and season 2 just changed everything around for me, and I ended up finding him the most fascinating character as his conscience began to develop.
I loved both Adelle and Topher because of their moral flexibility. But while she's all hard core, and hardened, he fascinated me because of his ability to completely disregard all possible moral and ethical issues of what they were doing because he was so devoted to the science behind it. I dig characters like that. *points at icon at another one :D *
I was going to abstain because I ditched the show halfway through, but then I remember loving Paul in season one and I was all "okay, there we go!" That said, I shipped him and Mellie so I was a bit pissed at everything there for a bit...
Paul was one of the few characters that really didn't work for me most of the time to be honest, his Caroline obsession always seemed so odd to me. I enjoyed it a lot more in season 2 when he was interacting with Echo and falling for her. It's a shame Joss didn't get more time to slowly develop Echo's self-awareness (it was horribly rushed in season 2 for understandable reasons), as a triangle between Paul falling for Echo at the same time as wanting to save Caroline could have been pretty interesting and that seemed to be where Joss was wanting to take that story
I just wish they had done more to explain Paul's backstory and why he was so obsessed with the dollhouse, as opposed to making it all about wanting to rescue Caroline after he saw the video of her. That was hard to connect too when he had never even had a conversation with Caroline
I couldn't connect to any of the characters other than Paul and Mellie, I guess that's not a good sign. Sadly I ddidn't get to s2, but I can imagine such a triangle would be interesting- I'm not Joss's biggest fan but I think he could've done great things with that angle.
Oh I wish writers recognized that exploring backstory would make for compelling story telling and it doesn't take too long.
Paul and Mellie did get some nice scenes together in season 2 :) The end of season 1 leaves you with the impression that they're dropping her storyline, but she stills remains as a regular and Madeline gets screwed over in trying to expose the dollhouse as Paul once did.
I had that impression but I wanted to continue on because of Paul (even though I was quite skeeved out by the Paul/Echo and Paul/Caroline direction I saw things going in)... I just didn't.
Yeah. I think I started liking Victor b/c Enver was totally amazing at being all those different people. And I became a Victor/Sierra shipper b/c I liked their connection.
Sierra's backstory was so intense and heartbreaking. The eps dealing with that are some of the best eps.
The character's military background wasn't really my thing to be honest, it wasn't that interesting to me. I really enjoy Victor more as part of the Victor/Sierra ship, and of course I love all of the roles the actor plays, but Victor himself isn't a big favourite of mine. Victor as Topher however *g*
I loved Whiskey, it's a shame the writers only started exploring that character more at the very end of season 1, and then in season 2 where they didn't have Amy for many episodes. When she was a regular as Dr Saunders in season 1 she was just kind of there for me most of the time, but then once her doll status was revealed, she become one of the most fascinating characters on the show and I wanted to see so much more of her
And I also loved Echo :D I knew she wouldn't get many votes because the cast is so strong that a lot of pople pick out Adelle, Topher, and Victor as their favourites (I do too with Adelle and Topher being almost tied as my favourites), but Echo is still in my top three characters *g*
Victor is my favorite. it goes Victor/Topher/Sierra/Bennett/Dominic/Alpha. i love the rest of the characters too. God, i miss this show. it soon will be aired here in Russia, i won't watch, cause i don't like watching tv shows or movies in translation, but i'm glad more people will know about Dollhouse)
I forgot to add Alpha to the poll :/ Actually he's another character that I would have loved to have seen evolve more slowly over the years, instead of just meeting the sane version of him in Epitaph Two and wondering about everything that happened to him over the years (ditto Whiskey with Epitaph One and never really finding out what happened for her to end up there). I hope the DVD has lots of good extras which include Joss explaining the original five year plan for those characters
And I LOVED Bennett :D I think she and Topher might even be my all-time favourite ship from DH, even though I love Victor/Sierra and Dominic/Adelle as well
