I've just started watching Being Human recently, and I'm curious. Does anyone know why they recast the vampire and the ghost after the pilot?

The actress who played the ghost had signed up for other things by the time they went into full series production. The vampire they felt just wasn't working with the ~dynamic or whatever.

LOL I find that weird because I find the two actors playing the vampire really similar, like it was hard to remember they had recast after I was a way into the first episode. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing *g*

Whereas the recasting of the ghost kind of threw me for a bit

elisi: Edwin and Charles (Mitchell by renestarko)

It's funny, because I had kinda the same experience (back when S1 started) - and then, sometime later, re-watched the pilot and was just totally thrown by how different the original Mitchell was. Like watching the original pilot of Buffy with a different Willow. (Or, like someone else playing Spike.)

*loves Mitchell*

(Also love Annie - liked pilot!Annie a lot, but I *adore* show!Annie. ♥)

I'm enjoying the new Annie, but that did feel like more of an adjustment at first because she seemed a bit more kind of bubbly and dorky compared to the rather snappy Scottish version in the pilot :P

Oh I *know*! Pilot!Annie was probably my favourite character of the pilot, and New!Annie took a while to get used to. Now, though, I wouldn't ever change back, because Annie is just Annie, and I love her to bits! :)

It was odd for me as well, seeing the series after having watched the pilot, but after a couple of episodes, I couldn't imagine anyone else playing Mitchell & Annie. :)

I'n liking them both so far, although George is my favourite so I'm very relieved that was the one role they didn't recast :D

Yay, Being Human! I'm not sure exactly, but they were not originally going to pick this up as a series after they made the pilot. They were going to drop it and go with something else. But it got such a huge following on the internet that they changed their mind. So, like the person above said, maybe the actors had moved on because they'd been told no at first.

That's really cool that the internet following convinced them to pick it up! Shame it was only for 6 episodes though :/

Not just 6! They just finished series 2 and have been renewed for a series 3. :D

One bonus with the shorter seasons is that I am kind of slow on catching up on shows, so at least this way it shouldn't take me too long *g* Other than the original pilot, I've now seen the first two episodes of the main series as well

I'm not totally won over by yet and completely hooked or anything, but I am enjoying it
