I've noticed a lot of people share that *g* In terms of who I was attracted too, I was much more into Aidan, but I did think that Big and Carrie were perfect for one another

Actually Steve was my favourite of the men on the show :D

He totally did! :D

I think that Trey was my least favourite guy, he was always kind of weird. "I've never seen my John Thomas so hard", telling Charlotte off for wearing sexy underwear, having his mother bathe him...

I relate most with Charlotte, but Carrie would have to be my favorite. She's the glue that holds them all together, and she's just been through so much. I feel she's the most real of the four.

As for least favorite, that'd be Miranda. I love ALL the girls, but if I had to pick a least favorite, it'd be her. Especially after the movie.

I picked Miranda for least favourite too! I found her a little bit too cynical and bitter at times. Especially with Steve. Like when they first met, and he's obviously a great guy, but she persists in seeing him as a jerk and insulting him. Or when Steve is being totally devoted and in love with her after she has her lazer eye surgery, and she makes a list of his good and bad points urgh. Plus I found it hard to relate to someone spending 50 hours in the office every week hee

But all the girls did have a lot to recommend them as well, with Charlotte being my overall favourite.

Yeah. I mean, I understand that it was hard for her to loosen up on her independence to live with a man, but damn! He was as sweet as can be! And yes, she actually had to cut BACK to 50 hours a week after she had the baby. What the heck kinda hours was she working before?!

I know right! It made no sense that she would even have much free time to meet up with her friends for dinner, or go to clubs with them, if she was that committed to her job.

She would have been exhausted in her time off, not wanting to go out and socialise

My favorite of the females is Samantha, with Miranda a close second. I don't really have a reason to why they are my favs other than they just are. *shrugs*

As for my least favorite, that'd be Carrie. A lot of times I just feel like strangling her.

Samantha is my second favourite! I think that sometimes she could be played her as a little bit too much of a caricature, but she was such a fun character at the same time. And I love how devoted she was to her friends. Even with Samantha and Charlotte being complete opposites, you could tell that Sam just adored Charlotte.

Carrie has grown on me in rewatch. I agree with Robyn on her being the most real character of the four, she never got stuck with the type of comedy sideplots that they sometimes got, and her relationships and responses were generally treated pretty seriously. But sometimes I find her a little too self-involved as well. I've just been rewatching my DVDs and Carrie pissed me off SO MUCH when she is giving Charlotte a hard time for not offering her a loan. Apparently that was actually SJP's suggestion for Carrie's character...

Agreed. Samantha is such a fun character. Out of all of them, I think she's the most care free. She has her problems but she doesn't let them bring her down.

Now that I think about it, Carrie is the realest character out of them. Her being a bit self-involved is one of the things I don't like about the character. The whole thing about the loan made me so sick. I HATED IT. I just kept yelling "God, Carrie, STFU!!!!" Just thinking about gets me annoyed.

It annoyed me because Charlotte saying that it's not her job to manage Carrie's fiances, and SO TRUE. Be supportive and sympathetic sure, offer Carrie loans, no.

SJP was saying that it upset her because Carrie was really independent and always working for herself, and she should be saying something about Charlotte's ring. Okay umm Charlotte was supporting herself at the beginning of the series every bit as much as Carrie was. Charlotte being entitled to some of Trey's money after the marriage is just how the world works, and it was Charlotte's own business if she wanted to keep the engagement ring. Carrie apparently had problems with Charlotte coming into money through her husband, yet happily goes to Big for a loan, and also agrees to Aidan buying her apartment for her when they're together. At least Miranda say would have been consistent in her views on not accepting financial assistance from a man, but going it alone. Carrie judged Charlotte for a marriage leaving her better off, yet accepted help from the men in her own life happily enough

Er end rant *sheepish*

That was pretty bad. And she knew she was wrong in saying it and said it anyway. The only good that came from that was the "proposal" that people were squeeing over where Charlotte gives Carrie her ring. But if I were going to pair any of the girls, it would be Miranda and Carrie, who are clearly heterosexual lifemates.

Seriously, Carrie. Just sell some shoes. This woman is crazier with money than I am.

LOL. And yeah I always saw Carrie and Miranda as the closest of the friends, but then the show seemed to present it as all of them choosing Carrie as their best friend if they had to choose just one?

I thought Carrie and Mirana had the most in commone though definitely as both Samantha and Charlotte tended in be used to represent quite extreme views.

Maybe that's because Carrie's so good at playing diplomat in the circle, aside from that time with Charlotte and the time she and Samantha got in it about Carrie giving her a 'judging' look about fucking a guy in her office. She plays the middle ground, so it's easier for them to consider her their 'best' friend.

Samantha and Charlotte were definitely extremes. Especially Samantha. The "try-sexual." (She'll try anything once.)

I'd read the unofficial guide before watching the later seasons, so I'd already heard about the thing with Carrie coming across Samantha giving a BJ, and I was really surprised at what a non-issue it was for Carrie actually, as the guide made it seem like a bigger deal. Well Samantha seemed to build it up as Carrie judging her, and then freaked out over Carrie and Stanford not liking the clothes she picked out, but I thought that Carrie handled the situation fine. I was surprised at how sensitive Samantha got over it, from what I remember Carrie joked about it with the others later and Sam got really uptight and precious over it all then which just didn't seem like her as Carrie actually hadn't said anything disapproving at all

What did you think of Samantha's relationship with Smith BTW?

Samantha did overreact, I agree. :P

I think that it was sweet and Smith was a better guy than most (I mean, he was very sensitive and SO forgiving), but I also wasn't happy that they felt the need to pair Samantha off. Does everyone have to end up in a settled relationship? Still it made a strong arch to have him there with her when she was going through cancer.

I haven't seen the movie yet, and i have to say that my favourite is charlotte, and although i picked samantha as my least favourite, that's actually more because i don't really like the actress that plays her...I really do love the Character of Samantha.

But Charlotte is my favourite and Miranda is my least favourite!!

Well I picked Miranda because she always made me laugh the most. She had some great lines. I agree though that I found it infuriating the way she treated Steve, but it all worked out in the end.

As far as who I relate to the most - that would be Charlotte. I've done a number of S&C character polls and I always turn out to be Charlotte.

My favourite fluctuates between Miranda and Charlotte but Miranda's humour is more similar to my own so I voted her.

Carries my least favourite cause anyone who could be such a bitch to Aiden about marriage and then be all 'fuck you' to (a completely twatish) Big when he does the same thing.

Don't like Big either if I'm being honest. Aiden's the main man, for reals!

I did appreciate Miranda's wry observations definitely, it was more the way she occasionally treated people that made me uncomfortable. Ditto Carriue I suppose, she and Big really were perfect for another! She went through all this angst over Big not wanting marriage and babies, and it takes Aiden for Carrie to realise that when a guy is offering that, she doesn't want it anyway. Big was wrong to stand Carrie up, but you'd think Carrie would sympathise a little considering that she VOMITED when she saw Aiden's engagement ring, and had a panic attack when she tried on the dress

First, can I say how much I love...love....Love! your "Bad Wolf Rose" icon. I couldn't help but stare, and drool. Mind if I snag?

Second, it was hard for me to choose since I love all the girls, but I went with Carrie as my favorite. I thought her character was the most fleshed out, and real. While her over all storyline was the best. Charlotte came in as my least favorite even though I love her.

Male wise, I adored Smith and Aiden, but agree that Big was the one for Carrie.

Samantha and Miranda are kind of tied for favorite, but Miranda won because I sympathize with her struggle with her own bitterness, insecurity, and pessimism. Carrie as a character has serious issues, but she's cheerful and supportive most of the time, so it's hard to get mad at her even when you should! *coughAidancough*

I don't like Charlotte as much as the others because she makes everything about her. She can be really selfish and closeminded, and I'm thinking specifically about the episode where she's having fertility problems and Miranda is going to get an abortion, but she treats her like somehow Miranda's decision is a slap against her. It's in character for her as the 'princess,' but it still really bothered me. I was glad that she ended up with Harry, though, because it was what she wanted and he's good for her.

I just don't like Steve because I felt like they pushed him as a "nice guy" too hard for him to be the one to basically make it out so that Miranda has to change herself to be with him, but he doesn't have to change. He dumps her because he can't deal with her financial success, and makes her have sex on his schedule, and ultimately, she has to compromise because he PUSHES. I'm sure other people see it differently, but I've had personal experience with 'nice guys' who do that to friends of mine until there isn't much left. Frankly, I liked her Nicks doctor boyfriend. I've seen the eps out of order, though so I might have missed some nuances to their relationship or, as I said, I'm just biased.

The guys aren't really prizes overall, though, and I know part of my example is part of that theme on the show where their SOs turn evil just before they dump them or get dumped. Note Maria who was giving Samantha sex and a fullfilling relationship, until they decided to break them up, and then she's withholding sex and throwing plates. And the Russian who treated Carrie like fine China, without compromising his 'no children' policy, until they decide that it's over, so he's pushy with her and then flat out neglectful and SLAPS her when he gets her to Paris.

EDIT: AND OMG BERGER! POST-IT!!

I did relate to Miranda's insecurity over her looks! (Also Charlott'e issues with her thighs and with public nudity). But I don't know, I think that her extreme pickiness over Steve turned me off...I never saw it as Steve dumping Miranda because he wanted to be earning more money as the guy? I don't know, it seemed more like he just thought that Miranda was going places, and he was ultimately holding her back/they were incompatible in that way. Their break-ups were generally for dumb reasons though :/

I get what you're saying about Charlotte, and that's exactly how I thought of her at first! My first episodes I watched were around the time that she was with Trey and I remember being really unimpressed when she makes it a huge thing over not having a good engagement story to tell, instead of appreciating the fact that hey she is engaged to a man that loves her (and he's a rich Doctor that adores her no less!!) But on my rewatch she become my favourite. I like that the show would like all of the characters realistic flaws so that you could see that Charlotte did have a little too much of the spoilt uptight princess about her, but at the same time I thought she was so classy and fabulous, and also I relate to how sappy she could get over things. She did respond badly to Miranda's planned abortion at first, but then she came around fairly quickly and was supportive when she still thought that Miranda had the abortion. And then found out she didn't, and is all squee three aunts were born and was totally there for Miranda again. But she definitely could be self-centered at times

One thing that did annoy me actually though was when Charlotte was frustrated by Trey's impotency and made a nasty comment because of Samantha describing her sexual experiences just like she always does. It annoyed me when Carrie and Miranda sat there refusing to take sides because I thought it was clearly Charlotte in the wrong there as she had attacked Samantha and implied she sounded like a whore in a really un-called for way :/ But then I also love another scene when Sam says she's dating a guy with funky-tasting spunk, Charlotte just gives her this "you have got to be kidding me" look and leaves the breakfast table without a word *g*

Harry definitely brings out Charlotte's better qualities more than Trey ever did I'd say, I really liked those two together so I was disappointed when Harry hardly featured later on. It seemed that once they had given Charlotte her happy ending with Trey they didn't really know what to do with her in the second half of season 6

The Russian really bored me :/

Yes, he was boring. It was like they needed something to do with Carrie before Big came back. But he was nicer before they decided to go to Paris.

The girls definitely have more layers, both strengths and flaws.
