While I don't follow Smallville all that much, I can empathise. Fortunately, with my current fandoms, the only shipping going on that I don't care for has been all fanfic and not cannon... Even if I see something I don't like, I ignore it rather than be nasty and telling folks they're wrong or whatever. While I'm far from perfect, I do wish others would take this approach of "If you can't say something nice then say nothing."
