Urgh. I just read some of the d/l of the latest Anita Blake book. It's called Micah

Utter rubbish. Anita is being written as such a bitch in it! And

She thinks she might be pregnant, and she's trying to decide which of her seven boyfriends could be the father

That's how bad it is! I miss Edward

I used to love her, until she became impossible for any man to resist *eyeroll*

I wish she'd write a book totally about Edward and the hell with the rest.

Obsidian Butterfly was my favourite of the series because of all the Edward. When he calls Anita his soulmate *squeals*

I used to wish Anita would end the series by realising Edward is the one for her. But so many men have fallen in love with her now, it would seem lame if Edward did too :/

I know! How can you take any of it seriously? I dislike Richard, but at least Anita being torn between him and Jena-Claude equalled something you could emotionally with.

Now all Anita does is screw everyone in sight, and we get bland characters like Micah introduced just to give her more sex. Apart from sex, what exactly does Micah offer the series?

Someone bought me a set of Anita Blakes for Christmas

I managed to read most of them and thought that they started well but rapidly went down hill with each book ,but the trilogy of Merry Gentry books I also recieved struck me as utter tripe.

I used to really like them. It was after Obsidian Butterfly that it went downhill for me. They don't even have Edward in the books any more, he doesn't offer Anita sex, so there's no place for him.

Anita has became such an annoying bitch. I used to adore her!

Yeah, I read through it really quickly. The characterization bothered me, but not overly. I do so miss the old days of Edward though. I think I'm going to follow it up by finally buying Obsidian Butterfly.

(For the baby thing, it better as fuck not be Richard's. And the characterization of her friend (name escaping me) in the preview for Danse Macabre pissed me off way more.)

I loved his dynamic with Anita! Obsidian Butterfly was the best that series had to offer

I gave up on Anita Blake after I couldn't get through fifty pages of the last book. Books where the main character has seven different sexual partners should not be so boring.

I've fallen so out of touch with LKH news that I didn't even realize that she had a new book out. I'll have to pick it up. I haven't totally given up on AB yet, although I would also love to see more Edgar.. what a great character.

The Merry Gentry books. *gag* I tried, but I thought they were just terrible.

Tom W. as Jean-Claude.. Something I've pondered.

Definitely if he grew his hair out *g*

Anita just took it from one extreme to another. Like she was kind of a prude in the beginning, and needed to loosen up. And I would have no problem with her having casual sex. But having 5 or 6 sexual partners at the same time to juggle. Being unable to control yourself from pawing all over people in public, while your friend uncomfortably watches and wonders if you're gonna hump the furniture next. The word skank comes to mind

They should have left it with just Jean-Claude and Asher threesome. And then Anita wouldn't even let the boys be together, ignoring that she was screwing Richard on the side. All her men have to be faithful to her still. Pfft

Actually, from what I read a few months ago, the entire pregnancy arc is supposed to be from her next "real" installment- Danse Macrabe, or however you spell it.

I've read the first few chapters of the book, which were on her blog, and the "who's the baby daddy" storyline isn't from Micah.

But maybe she switched?

Oh maybe I got confused then. I d/l something from one of the comms, after fandom wank linked to discussion on people d/l the books early.

I skimmed the chapters quickly, but maybe the last bit was a preview for the next book...
