of the conventionals I gotta say, over all, the best one I found and loved overall was Willow/Tara though damn skippy do I enjoy me some Buffy/Spike. My overall favorite pairing hands down however has to be Anya/Giles. *eg*

I was going to include pairings like Spike/Dawn, Angel/Willow, Buffy/Xander, Spike/Xander, Giles/Jenny, Giles/Joyce. But then it would go on forever :p Plus I figured those couples wouldn't get many votes as ultimate OTP's anyway...

*nods* definitely. You picked the right ones for the poll imho. it's the staple pairings. With unconventional ships? I don't think they make a poll option long enough to cover all the BTVS ones. :-p

Those are friendships and not actual couples, anyway. (and another poll) Although I did love Giles/Anya.

Didn't really like many of those pairings so chose Tara/Willow as they were cute at one point.

I thought they were cutest before they actually started dating.

I *loved* Anya/Xander, Anya was so in love and so sweet, in her strange, off-putting way! Xander loved her to, he was just kind of an idiot.

I always preferred Xander/Cordelia. X/A just seemed seemed to lack passion, except when they made jokes about spankings lol.

The relationship was more about one-off jokes than sexy scenes. To me anyway

I really loved X/C, but I just never got the depth of feeling with them that I did with X/A. I look at Xander in ITW, The Replacement, Hell's Bells, Selfless...and idiot or not, I really believed he loved Anya. I never thought he actually loved Cordy.

X/C had their cute moments! Xander giving Cordy the necklace, the prom dress being paid for. The hug in Becoming.

But really I agree that he did love Anya far more. But there was something about that couple that I could never connect with. I know it was supposed to be Xander's first serious relationship, but it started off as a joke in The Prom and THLOD, and to me it never really progressed much from there. Probably the ideal relationship for Xander actually :p Like even with the big break-up, it's treated seriously in HB, then in Entropy it's more jokey stuff with Anya cursing Xander.

And why they were attracted to each other was never really dealt with, it was so much in the background that I never got passion from them. Even Tara/Willow got some sexy scenes in SR. Xander/Anya were more of a comedy routine to me

Oh, I thought X/C were just as much of a comic relief couple. Even their first kiss is played for a laugh. And I mean, if we're talking about post-breakup cursing comedy? X/C's got that too. I get why people might prefer one couple to the other...personally I like both about equally. I just believed in his feelings for Anya more.

I'm so addicted to Spike/Buffy that I can't see anyhting else. ;)
But I did enjoy Willow/Tara , they were perfect together.

Spike/Drusilla would prob be my second choice

I voted for Spike/Dru, although I'm not sure if that was because of their couple-ness of just because Dru was such a great character.

I liked Willow/Oz a lot too. As I said in another comment, I thought Willow and Tara were at their cutest when they were just flirting and not dating yet. That was adorable.

I was never that into the Buffy/Spike thing (don't kill me! *ducks rotten tomatoes*) and I got kind of tired of Zander and Anya rehashing the same issues every episode.

Xander/Spike is just weird. Icky and weird.

Now, Giles/Anya - that was the weirdest of all, I think. Totally out of the blue.

Nah, I liked Giles/Anya. I don't think it came out of the blue because it wasn't really presented as a potential ship, so much as just being played around with in TR as a joke. And when the audience picked up on the chemistry, the writers shied away from the possibility. I think Giles would have beem far more respectful of Anya that Xander was

I think the writers whoudl have dealt with the Anya/Giles thing a little more. Foro ne episode they're all in wuuuuv, and then it never comes up again?

Oh, absolutely. I love Xander, but he wasn't always good to either Cordy or Anya. It didn't help that he always put Buffy and Willow first, even outside of a romantic context. Anyway, I really hoped TPTB would explore Giles/Anya, but oh, well.

And Spike would never touch Xander.
Heh, I admit I've read some Spander fic, but the writer really needs to sell it. Especially, imo, on Spike's part.

I minded it less with Cordy, because you get the feeling she gives as good as she gets. Esp as the relationship dynamic started off with her being ashamed of Xander's social status at school. And Xander wasn't sure he wants to be with her elite set anyway. So fine, they snark at one another.

But with Anya, he was always embarrassed of her and treating her like someone to be ashamed of around his friends. Pissed me off when he would patronise her and make her feel small

Looking at that list, I can say I actually liked every single one of those pairings except Willow/Tara. I didn't have "OTP, oh my god, must be together no matter what" feelings for any besides Buffy/Spike, but while their storylines were actually going? I liked all of them. Even when B/A got a bit tiresome in S3, they could still drag me in with like the biting in GDII or Buffy jumping him in Bad Girls.

I pretty much like, or at least tolerate, all of those ships. I included W/X because it was my big ship that never happened the way I wished it too, and all the rest were canon couples for at least a season or something. Maybe I should have included Giles/Jenny as well, but I didn't think anyone would vote for them :p

No Xander/Buffy? For shame.

Umm, yeah, Livejournal isn't exactly the most scientifically accurate place to poll an entire fandom. And that doesn't change the fact that this poll in particular will lean in one direction because of the sample.

This is supposed to be for fun, so there's no need to start a competition over it. Especially anonymously. ;)

Plus it's a poll I set to f-only. I'm only interested in surveying my f-list, not getting an accurate reading of all of fandom ;)

I pride myself on being coolly objective, especially when it comes to these things. True, I'm a passionate shipper, but there are reasons beyond my adoration for the man and my neverending fascination with the relationship. I'M SERIOUS. And I still love other ships, too ;)

But man, BUFFY AND SPIKE all the way. All the way. No question about it, especially coming from where I started my fandom.

Another no-brainer for me, natch. Although, I did love Spike/Drusilla -- so evil and twisted and beautiful to look at. And in fic, I'll 'ship Spike with just about anyone. Especially Angel and Faith. (What? The boy would have chemistry with a cement block, remember? :P)

Otherwise, I prefer the old-school 'ships for Scoobies who aren't Buffy. Namely, Giles/Jenny, Xander/Cordy, and Wilow/Oz. Especially Willow/Oz :)

Spike/Dru would be my second choice :D
