I do miss that first half of season 1 when it was more of a crime thriller. It seemed like Richie was originally written as a lot more fucked-up in the beginning, and there was always that sense of what could set him off, there was even that whole backstory of Richie killing their father by setting him on fire! Idk maybe I'm missing that whole ~us against the world~ feeling when they were pretty much only reliant on each other, and you got the feeling that Richie was a bit of a sociopath other than his love for his brother. (I am drawn to fucked-up dynamics like that on occasion *g*) Whereas I feel like season 2 Richie is a pretty generic criminal in comparison, and the main conflict between the brothers now seems to rather unimaginably be based around Richie feeling overlooked as the younger brother meh. It just seems like a lot of complexity was lost once Richie became a vampire and the show confirmed that he wasn't crazy after all, again what can I say lol, but I loved that whole build-up with unbalanced Richie and 'there is something wrong with your brother
