It's got the second half of the episode review with A&G
Hereafter: An emotional retread. Themes touched on before so it didn't resonate. Two great moments with the cape and Jonathans's heart attack though. They struggled with a budget crisis. Direction changed halfway through when original directer got sick. It looks way to dark and gloomy. B-
They just went for it with the cape figuring it's easier to ask for forgiveness for using it, than to get permission in the first place. Because of the film they knew the request would be turned down so they just never said anything, Gough adds that they shouldn't be given a hard time over it anyway and they weren't hassled over it in the end.
Velocity: A good Pete episode. Since season 1 they had wanted to use the idea of kryptonite making cars go faster. Originally Pete took advantage of Clark's powers a lot more, and they toned down his excess behaviour. Along with Asylum and Obsessions, it's Gough's favourite from the middle run. Loved it ending with Clark pissed off with Pete. A "fun guy show", that came out great on a low budget
Obsession: Fun take on Fatal Attraction. Mentions how sexy Sarah (Alicia) was like 3 times lol. They always wanted to do a scene with Clark caught in bed by Jonathan. Emphasis on the sexy chemistry being different from Clana. Favourite scene is the walk to school in the snow. Plays on great themes.
Resurrection: "I...Loathe...That...Episode" Gough says. It should have been more on Clark and Jonathon, not the guest star. The casting sucked, everything about the episode didn't work. Too sci fi and out there. Only one cool moment, the FX with Clark and the bomb.
Crisis: The Adam story is hardly mentioned throughout article so clearly didn't make an impression. Knows the episode was popular on-line, but felt it was too boxed in. No emotion, just about figuring out logic of the storylines. The script was better than final episode. The ending originally had Lional telling a doctor he was dying. They felt he wouldn't make himself that vulnerable to another person so the attempted suicide was added in at the last minute.
Legacy: A solid B, good but not great. CR was fabulous and the Lionel scene with Swann was fantastic, but overall a little too complicated. They lost some scenes that left the story in a slight mess. "There's a lot of pearls, but not quite a necklace" hee. Hoping to get CR back next year.
Truth: Really fun. Good to concentrate on different characters and see Chloe back in full force. "Allison was fantastic". Chloe loves Clark as a friend but they enjoy playing on her basest instincts, keeping her a wild card. They like that relationship being a little bit charged. "such a strong character and a wonderful actress". They were concerned about grounding it in reality to avoid "jumping the shark" (I made some comments on Smallville's page, sounds like Gough checks it out!)
Memoria: Loved the young actor and thought episode worked in every way. Very Lex and Clark heavy, 15 minutes were cut of Chloe/Lana/FBI subplot for time. The pilot, Rosetta, and this episode are their proudest moments.
Got a lot of calls about sequence taking part on Krypton. Gough really pushed for it and made it more impressionistic to dodge Warner Brothers. Jor-El and Lara had a scene written for them that they weren't allowed to film. No aspect of Krypton could be shown because the movie is supposed to establish the look. End result with the space ship and the hands worked, but not what they wanted.
Talisman: Parts worked, parts didn't. Liked expanding the Indian myth. Also liked Lex grappling with whether he's going to become a force of evil. Loved the ending which had the future villain justifying his position, without realizing he was doing it. Also Clark is thinking "Is Lex right"? about whether Clark's not the good guy, but the conquerer needing to be kept in check.
Forsaken: Big set up for the finale. Millar thought it worked really well. Last scene between Clark and Pete really emotional.
Gough less happy. The script was better than the finished show. Should have been all about Pete leaving, not making it seem like he was expendable and unimportant. The clone girl was a fun idea, but didn't quite work. Pete's leaving wasn't meant to come across as an afterthought. Clakr not telling Lana saw him being very heroic, but even so not a favourite.
Convenant: The Kara actress was very sexy. The final 5 minutes were spectacular, pleased with the reaction on-line. It was John Glover's idea to shave his head. The last shot of him had him "looking very much like Lex Luther in the comics". The Godfather imagery with no dialogue was intended to suck people in ready for new season.
