Reunion:
Loved this one! The flashbacks were awesome! Loved the teaser!
Loved the supportive Lexana! Although one thing I have noticed is that some people have been saying now that Lexana has grown on them as a pair after Arrow, but they still don't consider them very sexy. I mean don't get me wrong, I am loving the Lexana we get! But considering they have kissed just once all season (during the sex in Wither), it wouldn't hurt to have them kiss occasionally. The writers fell into the trap of making Lex and Helen rather passionless back in season 2, but Lex is a sexy character (as seen in Bound!) and should be kissing his girlfriend more.
I am still wondering why a set can't be build for Lex's bedroom. But that's a minor complaint I suppose :P
I did love the Lex/Duncan friendship, it reminded me of early Clex. And it was fabulous character development which really showed why Lex was always so desperate for friendship with Clark, and keen to prove that he can be trusted. I remember Leech when Lex insisted "I'm not going to hit you, Clark". And in the Mortal fight, Lex got punched a lot, and took a very long time to hit back. I think that all relates to Reunion, and Lex not wanting to let his temper out with his friend. Back in Diochtic Lex was attending anger management courses, in Perry he is afraid of his own anger, and that's why he goes to therapy after all. Love love love the continuity.
My only slight quibble is that I thought Lex's furious reaction to Duncan was a bit too quick. It seemed that he just unleashes after getting thrown in the fence, and considering Duncan was his only friend, I'd have thought it would take more to make him crack like that. But anyway, wonderful flashbacks still! Reunion added a lot to Lex's character. And more continuity! Continuity with Warrior Angel! *cheers*
This is another petty complaint, but it bugged me that Oliver and Lex weren't more evenly matched. It didn't fit that adult Lex was still getting pushed around by Ollie, he should have done his kung fu on him! I mean he was utterly humiliated and just tossed around the room easily, what about his previously claiming to have been taught how to fight and defend himself by an expert? After seeing Oliver bully young Lex, it would have been satisfying for Lex to get a couple of punches in as an adult (other than the one that Oliver let him have anyway)
Oliver continues to be really hot and wonderful though! I'm actually preferring Lex/Oliver and Clark/Oliver scenes to the Clex scene, which kind of surprises me *g*
I was disappointed at minimal Chloe again *sighs* But it was nice to see her outside of The Daily Planet, and having dinner with the Kent's. I liked her interest in Oliver *g*
Oh and I'm enjoying the writing of Lionel still. I love that he's not being build up as such an obvious good man this season, which was just hard to buy last year. Great scenes between Lionel and Lex! Especially Lionel's attempts to comfort Lex, and Lex just not needing the love of his Dad any more, but joking about dry-cleaning. Oh I also liked Lex making a comment about how easily Lionel has buried the past (very smooth!) That seemed like an acknowledgemnt of the fan complaints about how Lionel is now being set up as a good guy, when he has such a sordid past. Lex sems as amused by it as we are *g*
Then the next scene with Lionel's smile as Lex plans to still use the results for Duncan (foreshadowing for Lex's future interaction with Clark as well maybe...). Lex's character development is just awesome this year, especially when compared to more emotional Lex in seasons 1-3. The Lionel/Lex scenes show how far Lex has fallen, and I am loving it
I would love to read any boarding school fic with Lex, Duncan, or Oliver...

Yes! I missed this is my sea of omggaysquee but you are very right. In fact Lex is rarely all punchy, he's more 'I have a gun, bitch.'
I love boarding school, it's shiny.

Date: 2006-10-27 08:20 pm (UTC)I think it's a legitimate complaint. :)
I've said it before and I'll say it again - the lack of a fight choreographer hurts the show. I'm not sure why TPTB haven't caught on. Of course, we're talking about people who had Lana whine about her dead parents for a year, had Clark chase then run from the same girl for five years, had Lex never remember anything of significance about
his ex-boyrfriendClark that would organically propel their animosity...I have a longer list, but I'll stop there. *g*

Date: 2006-10-27 08:22 pm (UTC)Interesting theory about Young Lex and Young Duncan being like Lex and Clark of Smallville and about his anger management problems stemming from the Duncan incident. I like that :)
And, I guess now that Lionel can't feel Jor-El's presence anymore, he's up to his old shenanigans again...Yea! Evil Luthors are FUN.

Date: 2006-10-29 01:38 am (UTC)For someone like me though, it's really nice to not have to watch them suckface all the time. I guess it doesn't count as Lexana, but I had to watch them makeout in Zod...and that counts for me. Watching Reunion though, I was honestly struck with the thought that it was nice not to see them all over each other.
I agree about the Clex. I just...yeah. And YEAH. I HATED that Lex didn't get more licks in. I could've sworn I saw him swinging a pipe at Ollie in one of the trailers. Whatever. I also didn't like Oliver acting like he knew Lex better than Clark did.
I'm okay with minimal Chloe because they gave her something important to do off-screen. And like you said, it was nice to see her outside the DP. This is the second ep so far without any DP scenes, which I found intriguing.
