I love all Veronica/Weevil action. There totally should have been more and I would have loved to seen them together.
And I agree. I find L/V an interesting couple and dynamic and I like Logan, but everything about there relationship always comes back to Veronica for me and not the two of them together.
And yeah...Duncan. So much potential there and not enough follow through. He really was interestng in S1, IDK why they didn't follow through with so many story lines they already had in S2.
I never got the hate for S3 either. S1 will always be my favorite and imo opinion the best done, but S3 was still very much VM's to me. None of the characters changed, only some of the places (college vs high school) and like you said Veronica didn't change especialy.
They had a great dynamic in the first season especially, I think that the actor playing Weevil has even confirmed that he was playing it as Weevil having a crush on Veronica?
And yeah, Veronica/Logan work for me as a couple, but I don't understand why so much of the fandom became about them and about Logan's character, I find Veronica far more interesting
Regarding Duncan, the actor talked about the part a bit when the movie came out, he said that he was deliberately playing Duncan in a dulled-down state because of the anti-depressants, but apparently the network had stepped in by season 2 and asked for the character to be played in a more upbeat big man on campus kind of way. I think the show had lose its grasp on the character by then
And yes, season 1 was always the best, but I don't understand the ranting and anger that you often hear whenever later seasons of VM are discussed. They didn't have such strong emotional beats, but IMO they all had something to recommend them, just as long as Kristin Bell was there to deliver snark as Veronica investigates!
The first season was really great for them. I love how they went from their first scene in the pilot to the end he was busting out car lights for to get an apology. And I know there's lots of L/V parallels but I always thought that at the basics, Veronica and Weevil were more alike. (Also I never heard that about the actor, but that makes sense. Also, I would make that choice too, lol.)
Yeah, I heard about that with Duncan (though I forgot about it), that there was pressure from the network, but I wish they could have convinced them or somehow weaved the storylines in there. I mean, its not like they didn't include plenty of Logan's screwed up life. So why not show how screwed up Duncan's life was too? I mean his parents thought he murdered his sister and covered it up. Why was there never more to that?
I totally agree. All the seasons had something really good about them, good episodes that just made you really sit up and watch. And of course like you said, as long as Veronica was there, that's what mattered.
