Supergirl, she's Kara Danvers's sister, Chyler Leigh. But if you don't watch that, no Problem. Then maybe Elijah Mikaelson or Alaric Saltzman

I like Diane because she's such a bad-ass, she always knows how to get things done

I disliked Diane when she acted really self-righteous with Cary and the other fourth-years in season 5, even though they all (barring Alicia) had every right to feel betrayed at the broken promises on partnership, it was a bit rich of her to start lecturing Cary on all that she had done for him

Honestly I've only watched the entire series once, so I'm struggling to narrow down particular episodes or seasons, but I remember really enjoying the season 2 arc with her and Will

'When the door you have been knocking out finally swings open, you don't ask why. You run through'

Diane has worn so many fabulous outfits that nearly every one is a favourite quite honestly, I can't think of any specific one that jumps out at me at the moment

My OTP for Diane was with Kurt, I hope they manage to work things out :(

Brotp was her partnership with Will of course. I wasn't always Will's biggest fan, so honestly I didn't expect to miss him that much after he was killed off, but the show really did end up losing something when it was no longer Will and Diane running things

Eh I'm not sure that I have any really unpopular opinions on Diane, at least none that I can think of right now

My wish would be that things work out for her on The Good Fight in the end, and that her new firm become a success

I don't want her to go back to L&G at this point, it was annoying enough on TGW when they kept taking one step backwards all the time

We are largely in agreement on your Xander answers, yay! :D (Except I actually haven't watched season 7 yet, so I can't judge/appreciate s7!Xander)

Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered is probably my favorite Xander ep, too -- I feel like it just showcases both his weaknesses and his strengths as a character -- I like that he screws up big-time for very petty reasons (though I do feel sympathetic at the start), but then does the right thing at the end, when it counts.

Favourite Xander outfit would be the swimming trunks in Go Fish!

I like the way you think! XD

It took a while for Xander/Cordelia to grow on me, but I really liked it by the end, and was sad when it ended. And Xander's BROTP with Willow is my favorite relationship on the show, period.

but all the fans acting like him and Willow are the scum of the earth are a bit much.

I knew Xander was disliked by a lot (sometimes it feels like the majority?) of fans, but Willow? Really? What has Tumblr got against Willow?

Favourite Giles episode would be A New Man

Same, I think, and I really like his dynamic with Ethan in all the episodes they have together (though Giles would probably object to that being characterized as a BroTP, heh).

I do like Giles/Jenny, though -- but I can see your points about why you don't.

I never want Giles to do anything to betray Buffy again, Helpless was enough for me

Hear, hear! I just recently rewatched tha tepisode, and... ouch. :(

Willow doesn't get as much hate as Xander, but there are definitely a sizeable number of fans today who really hate the scoobies, and are always talking about what terrible friends they were to Buffy. In general the side characters like Tara, Anya, Cordelia etc get a lot more fandom love from what I've seen

I always liked Xander's friendship with Willow, it was a shame that it got dropped a bit in the college years in favour of Buffy and Willow's friendship, although they did still get some nice scenes together from time to time.

And I used to be a big shipper of Xander/Cordelia when I was younger, it was a shame how abruptly it all ended, I thought they worked well together. Xander/Anya were fine, but I never felt like they had the same chemistry

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2017-01-20 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
Giles/Jenny is a pretty popular ship, but yeah I dunno, I found Jenny a bit too smug around Giles I suppose. I know that she did genuinally like him, but Giles would get so incredibly flustered and nervous around her that I couldn't really picture them together, it just seemed like he was walking on eggshells around her all the time

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2017-01-20 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Matt because, in spite of not actually being invulnerable or having super powers, he always tries his best to help people and keep his neighbourhood safe

I dislike Matt when he pushes his friends away, and convinces himself that it's safer for him to act alone

I'd say that Matt definitely come across better in the first season, it was a shame how much he isolated himself later on

Honestly I can't think of one favourite episode, I've only watched Daredevil the once so far. Maybe the episode where Foggy first finds out about Matt's secret identity, I remember that one having some powerful scenes in it

'I'm not seeking penance for what I've done, Father. I'm asking for forgiveness for what I'm about to do"

I always liked his original Daredevil outfit more from the first season

I guess an unpopular opinion would be that I still liked Matt's character in the second season, whereas a lot of my flist seemed to turn against him after he become swept up by Elektra, and had less time for Foggy and Karen

I don't know that I really have an OTP for Matt, if I did it would probably be Elektra, but I'm not averse to seeing him and Karen together either

Brotp is Matt and Foggy of course, love them!

One wish would be that him, Foggy, and Karen end up on better terms for season three

I can't think of any oh-god-please-dont-ever-happens lol

Bonnie Bennett.

Agreed about the seasons. He was much better in the first one but I didn't, like, turn around and start hating him in the second.

Angel (from Angel, not Buffy)

[identity profile] infinitewhale.livejournal.com 2017-01-20 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)

The cynic in me can't help but think it's because she died and thus deserved so much better. All the dead female characters get a lot of support on there. Cordy, Kendra, Jenny, Tara...

Lorelai Gilmore =)

I like Alaric for what a badass hunter he was introduced to us as, and how he could stand his ground against Damon

I dislike Alaric when he tries too hard to have a normal life, and pushes people like Caroline and Damon away

Favourite Season: Season 1

Favorite episode:

Favourite Line: I can't remember the exact quote now, but his farewell to Elena and Jeremy at the end of season 3 when he says that being their guardian was the happiest moment of his life

Favorite outfit: Not sure

OTP: I don't really have an OTP for Alaric. Isobel was just a disaster, and then him and Jenna were pretty boring, so if I had to pick a relationship for him it would be Jo

Brotp is Damon and Alaric

Unpopular opinion: I can't think of any

A wish: I don't really have any big wishes for Alaric, just that I hope that he ends up with a happy ending I guess

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: I never want him to get back together with Caroline

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2017-01-20 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Bonnie because she's such a strong and selfless character

I dislike Bonnie because she did have a tendency to be a bit rigid in her views on vampires early on, I thought she could have been more understanding when Caroline was first turned especially

Favourite Season: Season 6, I loved all of those scenes with her in the hell dimension, and how determined she was to find a way to escape

Favorite episode: 504 when her friends are mourning Bonnie, and she's watching over them

Favourite Line: Maybe her confrontation with Damon in season 7 when she finds out about his plans to desecrate, and lets him know how much he's hurt her

Favorite outfit: Can't really think of one, Bonnie's outfits have never stood out to me that much tbh

OTP: Umm not really an OTP, but Enzo/Bonnie have grown on me a lot, it was nice to see the writers finally give her the same kind of passionate relationship that Elena and Caroline were always having

Brotp: Bonnie and Damon

Unpopular opinion: I'm not sure if this is unpopular or not, but I was rooting for a Damon/Bonnie pairing for a while there in season 7

A wish: That she and Enzo get their happy ending I guess

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: I don't want Bonnie dying at the end of the series to bring Elena back

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2017-01-21 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Why I like them: Umm I guess that he had his funnier moments now and then, it was always funny when they had Angel trying to sing or dance

Why I don't: Because he's always so convinced that he knows what's best for the people around him

Favourite Season: I'll say season 2, that was the most interesting time for me for his character when he was being tempted by Darla

Favorite episode: Darla, Reunion, Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been

Favourite Line: 'My parents were great. Tasted a lot like chicken'. Heh I don't know, that was just the first that came to mind

Favorite outfit: Something in black

OTP: Angel/Darla

Brotp: I can't really think of one, the show would push Angel/Wesley as a bromance, but I was never really feeling it. I'll say Doyle I guess, they had some good friendship scenes early on

Unpopular opinion: Angel wasn't making any kind of justified stand at the end of his series, he was taking a huge and pointless risk just so that he could feel like the ~champion~ going out in a blaze of glory

A wish: I don't really have any

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: Well it's a bit late for that with Ats, but I never wanted to see the Angel and Cordelia pairing happen. I thought they both brought out the worst in one another with all of the ~two champions~ together ego-feeding, and I wish they would have just stayed friends

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2017-01-21 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Why I like them: Because she's a really witty and entertaining character to be around

Why I don't: She has a tendency to be self-involved

Favourite Season: Wow I can't really think of just one season for Lorelai, she has her moments in all of them really

Favorite episode: Maybe the episode when she first opens the Dragonfly inn?

Favourite Line: 'Oy with the poodles already'

Favorite outfit: Again it's hard to narrow down, she wore so many great clothes. Maybe the dress from the dance marathon episode, she looked gorgeous in that

OTP: Lorelai/Christoper

Brotp: Her close bond with Rory has to go there I think

Unpopular opinion: I don't ship Lorelai with Luke, I always felt like she was partially setting for him because she knew that Luke was dependable and would always be there for her. I do think that she loves Luke, I just don't see any great passion there

A wish: For another Netflix season of GG! Also I would like to see her an Emily get a bit closer, but I don't see that really happening at this point. They've on better terms than they were at least I suppose

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: I don't want to see another Lorelai and Rory rift ever again

Katherine Pierce

[identity profile] infinitewhale.livejournal.com 2017-01-21 03:13 am (UTC)(link)

Hah, I picked someone I knew you weren't fond of for chaotic fun!

:P

Angel wasn't making any kind of justified stand at the end of his series, he was taking a huge and pointless risk just so that he could feel like the ~champion~ going out in a blaze of glory

Is that still unpopular? I never cared for the end of AtS for that reason. So much of the show revolved around him searching for a connection to the world, a family. Yet in the end it's dumped and he starts a war in a populated area out of spite because "the fight".

I have to admit that they were occasionally terrible friends to Buffy, but I can't hold it against them because I feel like all those moments were pretty clearly there to help generate TOTALLY UNNECESSARY additional Buffy relationship drama -- 'cos it was stuff like riding Buffy about not telling them Angel was back in season 3h, taking Riley's side in season 4 (and I say this as someone who actually really likes Riley, for the record), etc. But those bits always felt out of character to me, so I've mostly ignored them.

I find Xander and Anya cute, too, but agree that he had more chemistry with Cordy. And the immaturity made more sense in a high school relationship, too... (I like Anya as a character, individually, but her relationship with Xander is the least interesting thing about her to me, whereas Xander and Cordy played off each other nicely.

Willow Rosenberg opinions?

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2017-01-21 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
I think so, unless the tide has turned on tumblr and I'm unaware of it? I don't spend much time in Ats fandom, but I remember the general consensus always used to be that the way that Ats ended (well other than those annoyed about the 'cliffhanger') was much more adult and powerful than the way that Bts ended, there were so many unfavourable comparisons to Chosen after Not Fade Away aired

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2017-01-21 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, I don't disagree that they weren't always the best friends, particularly when they gang up against Buffy in Dead Man's Party or in Empty Places, but then at other times they were very supportive towards Buffy and were good friends to her. They weren't always perfect, but they were realistic portrayals of teenage friendships

And Xander/Cordelia felt more equal to me when they sparred, I liked how Cordy would give as good as she got, whereas it grates on on me at times when Xander was constantly correcting Anya and acting embarrassed by her

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2017-01-21 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Why I like them: Because she's so confident and unashamed in going after what she wants, and she always adapts and survives no matter what

Why I don't: She should have just left with Nadia after she managed to switch into Elena's body, it was inexcusably dumb to hang around Elena's family and friends assuming that they wouldn't guess the truth

Favourite Season: Season 5, it was fun seeing her re-adjusting to being human, plus learning to be a mother to Nadia

Favorite episode: Hmm maybe Katerina from season 2, it was good to get some more background on her. Or the 100th episode, that was another good one

Favourite Line: 'Better you die than I' is the Katherine quote, although she has so many great one-liners

Favorite outfit: Soo many! I really can't narrow it down, nearly everything that Katherine wore looked great on her. Probably one of her glamorous dresses from the past if I had to pick one

OTP: It used to Damon/Katherine in the first couple of seasons, but that never really went anywhere. I did like her scenes with Stefan in season 5, by then I was done with Damon's attitude towards her, and I appreciated how gentle Stefan was with Katherine as a dying human. Ultimately I don't think that I really have an absolute OTP for Katherine though

Brotp: I loved her and Caroline teaming up in season 5, it always felt like Katherine genuinally liked Caroline

Unpopular opinion: Maybe that I shipped her with Damon more than with Stefan in the beginning? In spite of the show always emphasising that she was more into Stefan, I always felt like she and Damon were the better match. It got annoying in seasons 2/3 though when the show kept telling us how over Katherine Damon was, and how desperate she was for his attention, they repeated that kind of scene a few too many times lol

A wish: Katherine needs to come back out of hell before the end of the series

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: I don't want Katherine to come back reformed and beaten, she still needs to have that essential Katherine attitude

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2017-01-21 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Why I like them: I liked how at first she was the dorky shy girl, and her friendship with Buffy helped her to find her voice

Why I don't: Not to sound unsympathetic to a recovering 'addict' lol, but sometimes her hang-ups about not doing magic got a bit annoying in season 7

Favourite Season: Season 2

Favorite episode: Doopelgangland

Favourite Line: 'I'm eating this banana, lunchtime be damned'

Favorite outfit: It's hard to pick a favourite Willow outfit, as in the most tasteful and fashionable one, so I'm going to go the other way. The all pink outfit with the daisies on it in Doopelgangland (I'm sure you know the one!), that's the most essentially Willow outfit that comes to mind right now XD

OTP: Willow/Tara

Brotp: Buffy and Willow

Unpopular opinion: Sometimes Tara was a bit too pushy and holier than thou in her attitude towards magic, am I really supposed to buy that it was the end of the world if Willow wants to use magic to decorate Buffy's birthday party? Yeah I get that it was meant to be part of a slippery slope, but while using dark magic to bring someone back from the dead is an obvious bad, some of Tara's complaints were a bit inconsistent with how they had used magic to manipulate the world around them in the past

A wish: I hope that Willow broke up with Kennedy shortly after the end of the series

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: Eh I don't know, I guess that I don't want her to ever lose contact with Buffy and Xander?

[identity profile] infinitewhale.livejournal.com 2017-01-21 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh, I know there are a lot of people that thought it was a better ep for many reason. I can't really argue in terms of structure. I think Chosen is kind of...clunky. Spends too much time on stuff I don't care about.

I did think most people agreed NFA was kind of a grim dark suicide mission and selfish and stupid. I could be wrong because I, too, am more Buffy fandom centered.
