Let go of the woobie is worth a read. It references Lex a lot, as well as Spike, Brian from QAF, Logan, and Draco. I loved this

the writers instead chose to highlight his wicked ways by suddenly revealing halfway through season four that Lex... had one night stands! With several different women! And he gave them diamond earrings afterwards! Send some of that evil my way, why don't you? Clark's pissy reaction to the news that his single, adult friend had sex was hilarious, mostly because he came off as jealous rather than indignant.

And lol does anyone know where Big Dumb Alien originated? Isn't it usually used as a term of affection? Well except in season 3, when Clark shoves Lex aside and Omar recaps it as something like, "Watch out. Big Dumb Alien coming through" *giggles*

haha thanks for the link, that was a good read, I read what he said for most of the characters except Brain, I haven't see the american version of qaf.

Clark usually approaches him when he's either angry or needs a favor. With friends like that...

hmm thats true, we never really see Lex and Clark going out to a *cough*gay*Cough* nightclub together, you know just socializing, most of the time its just Clark storming into his office angry or asking for a favour, I still like Clark, but come on! you're supposed to be friends! go and talk to lex! make out with him too! go on!

I think the writers lost the hope of making Lex unlikeably evil when they had his daddy strap him down and electrocute him. Also I think the writers have deliberately given half the Lex-evil story to Lionel because it makes for a better story.

My brother theorised that the writers *know* Clarke is coming across as a complete shit and are doing it on purpose to show the personality sacrifices needed to become a superhero.

I admit that it does get annoying the way *some* fans try to justify every single thing these characters do, no matter how bad they are. Still, I'd take a "woobie" over a straight-up thug, or a flawless hero-type (do they actually exist?) any day.

"Watch out. Big Dumb Alien coming through"

LOL!!

Cool article :-D

Didn't Big Dumb Alien originate with Omar? Using it whenever Clark does something stupid and not very future-superman like? Which is quite a large proportion of the time! :-P

The thing is, though, Brian Kinney isn't a woobie at all. He knows what he wants, he goes after it, and he gets it. Things work out for him. He's self-assured. His life hasn't been one of suffering, hardship, and torture. I don't feel sorry for him at all.

Now, Lex, yes, he is a woobie. He's really cool, too, he's all that and a bag of chips. But every single person in his life has betrayed him and turned away from him and let him down. It just makes me want him to have someone who will love him and be there for him.
