Honestly I'm so settled on LJ that I really don't want to even check out Dreamwidth *g* I mean we grip about LJ at times, but for day to day use I find it a very decent place, it's where I've been happiest fannishly speaking I think
Understandable. I get nervous whenever the "people are leaving LJ" talk starts up again, too. It might also depend on how Dreamwidth turns out, since it's still in beta, isn't it?
I've got a permanent account here, so no, I'm not going anywhere lol. But I answered "What's Dreamwidth" because I've never heard of it before. I assume it's like LJ?

Same.
And I think it's similar yes, but I don't know much about it tbh, other than it was set up by fans and is geared towards fannish activity. It probably would be the better option if we were all choosing between LJ and Dreamwidth at the beginning, but now so many of us have settled on LJ *shrugs* I worry it's just going to divide my flist up, at the moment we're all in one place on LJ, I don't want it all spreading out so we end up needing to check two different places to keep up with everything :/
One of the owners is a fan, but Dreamwidth is not a fannish project. (http://wiki.dwscoalition.org/notes/Dreamwidth.org:_Business_FAQs#Is_Dreamwidth_a_fandom-based_project.3F)
I don't plan on leaving LJ unless it gets really bad and all my flist flees to greener pastures. I may or may not have a DW account, but I won't sign up for one now even if I don't have one.
:nods: I wasn't even thinking of leaving LJ, and was then a little shaken up today (LOL so melodramatic) by a couple of friends of mine talking about moving to Dreamwidth permanently. It's not my preference at all, but if everone does end up going there, then what can we do but follow *shrugs* I'm here for fandom, not to sit talking to myself in a ghosttown *g*
I was ready to leave for IJ, which I liked, and I got a permanent account over there for $30. I'll only go if people are srs this time, even though I like the idea of migrating. However, it's been awhile since LJ screwed the pooch.
Heh, I hate it when everyone starts talking about a new journal. I really don't want to imagine what could happen on LJ to freak everyone out enough to move.
And really, I think I'd possibly give this all up if everyone left. This LJ was hard enough to get going, starting anew at Dreamwidth just doesn't seem worth it at this point in time.
Me too! I've never been one of the people angry enough to threaten to leave LJ, I've always loved it here. I have a grumble on occasion, but generally I can get along quite happily with my flist and my LJ memories, and not even worry about whatever the new policies are that have outraged everyone this time.
Seriously, I've never heard of Dreamwitdh before. I honestly doubt I'll ever leave LJ. It sort of feels like my home at this point and I'm comfortable here. Plus there have been a million fads of LJ exodus and none of them have ever really resulted in people actually leave LJ for good, from what I can tell.
My answer is more that I'll use both sites if enough friends/fandoms make the move to Dreamwidth. Though honestly I have no desire to move given I have a permanent account here.

Same. I can't even be bothered with registering my name over there at this point, though if it does really take off in a few months time I suppose I might drift over into checking it out then.
I can't wait for DW to open, but I'm gonna keep my LJ until my paid accounts expires... in at about 18 months. Then, I'll either stay here, or I'm gone for good. We'll see.
I think a lot of fandom will probably stick with LJ still, so IMO you might lose something from going with a smaller community like DW only. I hope you stick around anyway :)
I think a lot of fandom will probably stick with LJ still Unless LJ decides to screw with fandom again - Strikethrough anyone?
I hope you stick around anyway :) Well, at least until September 2010. Then, I'll either move completely to DW, or stay here - depends with site closes first. My bets are on LJ. *lol*
I will buy an account once the open beta starts at the end of the month, but I'm not planning on moving over there, but I need a way to follow all my friends who are planning to move.
There's about a dozen who are definitely off and won't be cross-posting and a handful more who will be half and half here and there and crossposting to both.
I'm surprised people are already that committed as I would imagine that DW is going to be a pretty quiet community at first compared to how active LJ is. Maybe when it gets going it could be a really fun place, but I'd find switching over completely pretty boring after being used to how busy LJ is
I'm buying a permanent account at Dreamwidth! I'll always crosspost here but DW is where I want to be. It's going to be amaaazing, filled with all the great features we need and they'll actually listen to users and not take down our accounts. I can't wait til fandom migrates there :)
