ETA Oh and also Dollhouse. That feels like a misunderstood show to me, and one of Joss’s most underrated offerings. It often seems like it’s taken for granted that it’s a show that’s seen as a giant failure, but actually it’s my second favourite show of his after Buffy
11. I started watching Life On Mars after I fell in love with John Simm on Doctor Who when he was playing the Master, and yes LOM was a great find. I want through a brief phrase of seeking out John Simm films to watch as well, but these days I probably wouldn’t bother watching a tv show or film just for one specific actor tbh. There’s so much content out there to watch that I’m only going to check something out if the concept interests me. LOM was a nice surprise though, and also led to me watching and falling in love with the Ashes To Ashes spin-off as well
31. From this year True Detective has been my favourite new show by far, I really fell in love with that one. And from last year I really enjoyed Sex Education, The Haunting Of Hill House, Killing Eve, Sharp Objects, and Peaky Blinders. I’m cheating with six lol, but well those are the recent shows that I loved the most XD
42. Absolutely!! I’m starting to get out of the habit now though, and tending to either just stream shows, or buy them digitally. You keep hearing about physical media being a dying medium, and I’ve noticed that there’s much less effort now to include extra features on DVDs and Blu-Rays, so it’s become a case lately of you may as well just buy the episodes on iTunes. I did have a bit of an addiction to buying DVDs for a while there though, and I still have a lot of special and exclusive editions when companies do put them out, although again that is getting rarer, even with complete collections there rarely seems to be an effort any more to add something extra to entice us to buy all of the episodes again :(

LOM was great!

That's so true. I wanted to try out Conviction because it had Hayley Atwell and some other actors I like, but even that wasn't enough when the concept didn't sound interesting and it was received rather poorly.
It's good to see I'm not the only one who still wants to buy shows on DVD/blu ray! Personally, I'm satisfied with a handful of deleted scenes and a gag reel, but even that is getting rarer. I love NBC for putting up The Good Place's gag reel up on youtube.

I think The Good Place does offer a commentary at least though, as well as a gag reel, but they are becoming much scarcer as more and more people turn to streaming instead. It seems like it’s more just films these days that still offer a lot of extras, but it’s no longer really the norm with tv shows unless the people involved themselves want to make a big effort with it?
Older shows like Supernatural do still go all out because I guess by now they’re just used to making sure there’s extra content available for the fans, but then a new show like Daredevil will offer zero extras, so tbh I still don’t entirely get why people even bother with buying the Blu-Ray. I was really excited to go behind the scenes with the stunts and everything else, but as it is, you may as well just stick to watching the show on Netflix, because it’s not like the physical media offers anything different :shrugs:
And yes that does sadly seem to be the case with Nikita and the CW, but then other shows have still very much taken off on that network and found their niche, so it’s still somewhat puzzling to me how little Nikita gets talked about. I guess maybe it’s partly a case of it being promoted badly?

For me, there's actually another problem: Not every physical release is available in Germany. Awesome, right? I recently ordered The Americans in the UK because the complete set is not available here. The Good Place S1 and S2 aired here, but the DVDs you can buy on Amazon are (UK) imports.
I suspect the same thing about Supernatural lol
The fans are used to getting all these extras and I'm pretty sure the DVDs and blu-rays actually sell rather well. I also buy them...once they cost less than 10€.
