The Good Place has been Renewed for Season 3 by NBC!

NBC has renewed the critically acclaimed comedy for a third season. Like its first and second seasons, the third installment of the sitcom starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson will consist of 13 episodes. Other castmembers include William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto and D’Arcy Carden.

The half-hour from Parks and Recreation creator Mike Schur first received a straight-to-series order in August 2015. Produced in-house by Universal Television, The Good Place also hails from Fremulon and 3 Arts Entertainment, with Schur, David Miner, Morgan Sackett and Drew Goddard executive producing.

The series has garnered praise from critics, with THR's chief TV critic Tim Goodman calling it "a comedy unlike anything else on TV right now" when it debuted in September 2016. "It seems so effortlessly fun," he wrote. "Jokes are plentiful and original and the show hums along delivering a lot of welcome joy."

So far this season, The Good Place has averaged a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.2 million total viewers, with seven days of delayed viewing. When additional platform viewing is taken into account, the show's ratings grows to a 2.6 in the key demo, a bump up from its 2.57 rating compared with this time last season.


Maybe I’m just too used to reading the ratings from the CW lol, but wow I had no idea that The Good Place was doing so well. A 2.6 demo sounds AWESOME :D

I knew that The Good Place had decent ratings but I didn't expect it to be renewed so quickly but of course I'm very happy about this!

For some reason I was pretty oblivious to how good the ratings were. I think I always assumed that it was more of a cult hit that mostly got a second season because of the combined star power of Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, as well as the critical acclaim, shows how much I know! This early renewal definitely seems like a great sign that the network is very happy with the show :)

Hooray! I'm still halfway through S1, but it's been pretty enjoyable as a really weird niche show.

I’m just too used to reading the ratings from the CW

From the numbers, it's hard to imagine what sort of scale the CW does use to figure what to renew.

Haha yeah, I’m so used to seeing the CW getting 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 results in the demo, and 0.6 being considered *really good*, so it was kind of shocking to see how well TGP is doing on its network in comparison *g*
