The 100

I've taken a break from my X-Files rewatch to do some streaming on Amazon Prime instead, I've been feeling like I've really not been getting enough use out of it considering the cost of it. (This is why I don't have Netflix lol, I always just end up stressing myself out over am I watching enough to make use of my subscription!) I've just finished the first season of The 100 now

So far my favourite characters would probably be Bellamy, Raven, and Abby. Octavia was one of my early favourites as well, but then she seemed to fade out somewhat in the second half of the year, I ended up getting more into Raven's character instead. Oh and umm the leader of the grounders whose name I've forgotten now, she was another fav of mine that seemed pretty interesting. Least favourite would definitely be Jasper, he was all right at first, but then I found him very annoying when he got really full of himself and was pushing Monty away. And for all the screentime and focus he got as a main lead, Finn didn't do much for me one way or the other quite honestly. The actor didn't seem very charismatic, especially compared to the actor playing Bellamy, so I was surprised at how much the show kept pushing Finn as a focus

I was also surprised that Kelly Hu's character disappeared after the pilot had billed her as a regular, does anyone know the reason for that?

I didn't really get into the Finn and Clark relationship, it seemed a bit forced with how heavily they were pushing it from the beginning. Also it really changed my view of Finn when we found out that he was still involved with Raven when he went to Earth, even though he gave off the vibe of being free and single from the moment he got to Earth wtf, yet somehow the show wanted to portray him sympathetically when Raven turns up and he's put in an awkward position?? He pretty clearly WAS cheating on Raven with an unsuspecting Clarke, as when Raven turned up they were clearly still together and there was no indication that they had split up or had discussed not being exclusive, but the show never seemed to want to actually portray him as leading both girls on, even though I don't know what else you would call it? Yeah he didn't know Raven was coming to Earth, but he sure didn't waste any time on finding women to hit on from the moment he landed urgh.

And I wasn't really sure what to make of Octavia and Lincolm, I wanted to like them more than I did as the actors did have good chemistry, but it just seemed very underdeveloped to me? I didn't understand why Octavia was sooo convinced that the poison affecting her as well would be what would cause him to break, what reason did she have to think that he was THAT dedicated to her already when IMO it wasn't even really that clear at the time that he did save her. I mean yeah he picked her up and seemed to have a soft spot for her, but then he chained her up in a cave while she was freaking out, I didn't see much evidence for Octavia's conviction that he simply couldn't let her get hurt? Obviously she was right at the end, but it still all seemed a bit rushed to me, the writers could have spend more time on what drew them to one another in the first place

I found myself caring the most about Bellamy and Octivia's sibling bond actually when it come to the relationships on the show, I'm always here for those ~us against the world~ kind of sibling dynamics and the flashbacks with the two of them were very sweet. (Although Octivia's existence does raise the question of why her parents would have had another kid when they knew it would mean raising her in secret under floorboards for her entire childhood?)

And finally I was disappointed that they killed Wells off as early as he did after he seemed to be set up as one of the main characters in the beginning, I suppose that they deliberately set it up that way for a surprising twist, but I thought they could have done more with his character. It seemed like he got really unfairly targeted because of his father being the Chancellor. Well Charlotte outright gives that as the reason for why she killed him, and even with her being a young kid, her reasoning behind it being that he reminds her of his father seemed like an exceptionally fucked-up motive to give her. And I felt like that came into it a lot with the way that Clarke treated Wells as well? I could understand her feeling sad and disappointed that her friend betrayed her trust and mistakenly confided in his father, therefore we're not friends any more, but she really seemed to have it out for Wells in a pretty harsh way which made me think that she was another person sub-consciously blaming him for his father's actions and taking it out on Wells :(

At the moment I'm not sure if I'm going to watch the second season or not. I liked that The 100 only had 13 episodes, so it was pretty quick-paced and easy to get into with some good twists, but sometimes it felt like the character moments were a bit lacking? I just never got really invested in the show tbh, so can't see it being a big fandom for me. I'll think about watching the second season when Amazon Prime puts it up, but at the moment I have no plans to go looking for it to watch right away or anything. It has put me in the mood for another post-apocalyptic show though, I'm really tempted to have a Dark Angel re-watch now!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS AT THE 100.

I still can't stand Jasper. Finn takes an entirely different turn in season two, and you're right about how the cheating completely ruined his character. Seriously, he was on earth a day and completely forgot about Raven. I love love love Bellamy and Octavia's relationship. They're so wonderful and that keeps up in season two. Lincoln and Octavia were a bit rushed, but I really adore them together.

I don't think anyone knows why Kelly Hu disappeared after episode one, but she never comes back.

Season one is definitely the lesser of one and two. WATCH TWO. Things go absolutely batshit and the show's best moments are in two. Most of the characters take on great moments of development and it's what really sold the show for me.

Octavia is my favefavefave! ♥ And I love her relationship with Lincoln, even if it's not always developed enough.

I also really like Clarke, more with Bellamy than with Finn (not a fan of Finn after Season 2), but mostly with Lexa (you haven't met her yet, but maybe you've heard of her through fandom osmosis).

I definitely think The 100 gets a lot better in season 2. After season 1 I wasn't sure what I thought about it, there was just something lacking for me, even if I couldn't say exactly what it was. I think it could be because I wasn't quite able to connect with the characters. There was no one I really loved and a lot of them I didn't even like. I agree with you that the relationship between Octavia and Bellamy is one of the most interesting relationships, it was definitely one of the things I cared most about in season 1. Most of the other relationships I didn't care much about.

Things have changed for me in season 2 - the storylines are better and I care more about the characters. I'm still not able to really care for anyone the same way I do for characters in my favorite shows, but I do find the show a lot more enjoyable now (I'm currently two episodes away from finishing season 2). I definitely recommend watching season 2 at some point :)

I loved season one of The 100 but stopped watching about 3/4 through season two when I started falling more and more weeks behind and realized I didn't care to catch up. I doubt I'd watch it again. I liked the original premise and the characters but then they killed every character I had an interest in (Wells and my two favorites in season two among others) and focused entirely on the earth people and the adults who I didn't have any interest in (I wanted it to stay with the kids trying to figure out an abandoned earth). And I hated how the writers destroyed Jasper's character (he started out a kind of sweet nerd and then became a whining brat) and his romance for season two made me scramble for the remote everytime they went to that storyline, and I hated how Monty got shoved to the background just because Raven replaced him as the "techy" one (I really, really dislike Raven).

I actually wasn't THAT into "the 100" during season 1 and the characters I was most invested in were Octavia and Lincoln, and still are, but I also really love Marcus and I'm very interested in his journey. I was so twisted about him in Season 1, and also in parts of Season 2 but I love him so much, and while he's probably not "on" as much as the kids, I think he's one of the most interesting characters this show has... ;) But of course that's just me...

Personally it was season 2 that really made me get into this show. Like HARD. I barely ever talked about it in Season 1, but Season 2 changed all of it. During Season 1 I wasn't even sure I would be watching Season 2, but I'm glad I did, because unlike many other shows, Season 2 - I felt like - improved on SO many level and just found it's footing.

Okay, I wasn't interested in that whole "City of Light" Storyline and I'm still annoyed by it and hope it won't have too much focus in Season 3, but I can ignore that fact for everything else that was good about it :)

YES. I am so here the Blake siblings.

I was never a fan of Finn, like ever. lol. The way the show handled that whole situation with Clarke, him, and Raven just made it worse - because he came across like a total douche to me, despite how they otherwise tried to sell it.

Ugh, Finn. I really disliked Finn. I didn't like him from the start but when we found out he was still with Raven even though he'd spent every second on Earth trying to hook up with Clarke, I was just done with him. I also really loathe Murphy.

RAVEN!!! Raven is my FAVORITE! I also adore Abby and Octavia and Clarke and most of the female characters. I didn't like Bellamy much in season 1 but he really grew on me in season 2. And Lincoln's pretty great.

Relationship dynamics - I adore the friendship between Clarke and Raven. The show easily could have made them hate each other because of the Finn thing, but instead, they became friends. So awesome. I also love Clarke's complicated relationship with Abby and the Octavia-Bellamy dynamic.

I remember how shocked I was when they killed Wells. I never saw that coming, which I guess was the point, but I definitely think killing him off so soon was a mistake. I thought his character had a lot of potential and then he was just gone.

I liked season 1, especially toward the end, but season 2 is much better. Season 2 introduces a couple of really fascinating characters and gives quite a few of the main characters really strong arcs.

I'm glad that you liked the first season of The 100! I'm in the minority and wasn't crazy about the second one, but it was still decent.

hmm I watched the first season as it aired but totally lost track of it last year. It's interesting to see so many comments of support for the second season tho, maybe I'll give it a try one day.

The 100 is one series i have yet to watch. I am currently going through Battlestar Galactica and soon will be watching season one of Dollhouse.

Season 2 is much better imo! And I can assure you,Octavia's role becomes much bigger and she honestly has the greatest arc of them all ♥
Her relationship with Lincoln was definitely rushed (I feel like they either deleted some scenes - between her helping him escape and then suddenly they have sex? o_O - or just left it out deliberately and thought the viewers would know that some time has passed or something) but I loved them right from the start because PRETTY and then in season 2 they get a really solid foundation and I know quite a few people who changed their mind about them then :)
You will probably change your opinion on Finn too...but not in a good way. He only gets worse *lol*

Oh and the Kelly Hu thing was really weird. She was one of the reasons why I even started to watch this show in the first place. I google it but there's absolutely NOTHING,not even news that she dropped out :/
