Here's the first look at season 7 of The Vampire Diaries
And Inside Scoop
Question: Can we expect a major “Steroline” kiss in the Vampire Diaries season premiere? I need it. – Kayla
Ausiello: You might want to sit down for this one, Kayla: Paul Wesley couldn’t quite recall what goes down in the premiere — they’re a few episodes into Season 7 right now — but when we asked him about Stefan’s kissing agenda with Caroline, he did drop this bombshell: “I’ll be lip-locking with more than one woman.”
When to Watch: Thursday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m.
What to Expect: After six seasons of romance, The Vampire Diaries is focusing on the love between the Salvatore brothers for season seven and we could not be more into this idea! "That's the central relationship at the heart of our show so we figured it's about time we showed that," executive producer Julie Plec says. "We'll see how the brothers deal with each other without Elena between them, how they feel about their mother Lily, and we're going to get back to the season one Damon we all fell in love with."
A series of brief three-year flash-forwards will lead to an overarching mystery in Season 7, while simultaneously revealing unexpected futures for Mystic Falls' finest. One such reveal is a new (yet familiar) man for Bonnie, which executive producer Julie Plec says "will make a lot of sense" (despite the relationship seemingly coming "out of nowhere"). In the present day, Lily (pictured) and her "family" of Heretics will paint the town (blood) red, forcing both Matt and Enzo to decide once and for all what kind of people they're "willing to be surrounded by." Following the losses of their lovers, albeit temporarily in one case, Damon and Alaric will find themselves "back on the bourbon wagon" with Bonnie tagging along as their "uninvited chaperone." And Caroline and Stefan's relationship will remain "one of the bigger surprises of the season," as she continues to weigh her feelings for him against her need to regain her sense of self.
BONUS SPOILER!: Expect a major curveball for Stefan and Caroline around Episode 6.
It all sounds pretty good to me so far, especially Lily's role, the time-jumps, the Steroline, and the focus on the Salvatore's relationship! My only slight disappointment is that some of the Heretics seem so young and CW'ish in the promo pics, last season I'd always pictured them as being closer to Lily's age... Oh well, I'll see how they come across anyway. And hmm if Bonnie is being paired with someone that we already know, I guess that the only options are Matt (seems unlikely?), Enzo, or Alaric? I'm betting that it will either be Enzo or Alaric in an attempt to give them more to do, Matt seems to have a semblance of a plot this year for once with his new thing of being a cop and turning against vampires, although I suppose that Enzo has more to do now as well that his storyline has tied in with Lily's...Urgh I only hope they don't go with Alaric/Bonnie, I know there are bigger age gaps in TVD, but it would just feel wrong

My first guess was actually Enzo, but then I thought that Bonnie would never ever - not in a million years - hook up with a Vampire. And if she ever did, it would probably be a vampire she likes, like Damon. I don't think she'd EVER touch Enzo at all... but who knows? By now I rather think it's Matt as he didn't have a girlfriend for a while and I don't think Ric really has "love" on his mind after everything that happened...
Although of course with the time-jump(s) they could probably make it work...

I wouldn't be surprised with Enzo or Matt. Matt makes sense because they have so much history together and they're both genuinely decent people. I don't really see the chemistry there, but I remember there was a con a few years ago where Zach mentioned wanting Matt to hook up with Bonnie. He was probably kidding but still...
Enzo doesn't really make any sense and Plec once swore that Bonnie would never get involved with a vampire but the show does love it's good girl/bad boy combinations. And since so many fans like/want Bonnie/Damon, I could see the writers thinking Enzo would be a good compromise.
Personally, I'd rather she not hook up with any of them. The only male character I'd want to see her with is Stefan but I highly, highly doubt they'd go there. Unless they've decided to move away from Stefan/Caroline or they're determined to create another love triangle. But yeah...he's the only want I'd want to see her with. Out of all the other options, I'd go for Matt or Damon. Matt because he's a good guy and Bonnie deserves someone good. Damon because Kat and Ian have insane chemistry and even though I still don't like Damon, he's more tolerable in scenes with Bonnie. The 3-year flash-forward would make the Bonnie/Damon thing possible but I really don't see the writers going there. They are way too obsessed with Damon/Elena to pair Damon with anyone the fans actually want to see him with.
I'm trying to think if there were any recurring male characters left alive who could be Bonnie's new love interest. The only ones I can think of are Jamie (which failed miserably the first time) and Liam (whom everyone hated.) I suppose they could always go with Bonnie/Tyler if Michael Trevino was up for making semi-regular guest appearances. All I remember is that they claimed he'd pop up from time to time but I don't know if they actually intend on following through on that one...

Season 6 was the first season where I didn't mind Damon so I'm not pleased that he's going back to his season 1 self. I wish they would've let him continue to develop and mature instead of having him backslide into his old, horrible patterns. I guess we'll see how it goes but...yeah...I'm not looking forward to that at all or to his drinking buddies thing with Alaric. That friendship has never held much appeal for me.
I like the idea of exploring the Stefan-Damon relationship but I also don't want to see so much focus on the brothers and the new characters that all the other regulars are forced into the background. Bonnie and Caroline are my favorites and with Nina gone, I want to believe they'll get more screen-time but if the writers decide to focus everything on the Salvatore family...idk, I'm just worried all the other characters/relationships will be sacrificed in order to play up the family dynamic and make TVD more like The Originals.

And in that same CC interview, Caroline Dries outright stated that they weren't going the Bonnie/Damon route. I mean, they could've changed their minds but...I imagine that rules out Damon for the foreseeable future.

I can't wait for the time jump.
Seems like shows are big on time jumps lately. What with PLL doing this, too.
