So who on my flist is still watching The Vampire Diaries next season?
And how many on my flist are watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., cause I'm seriously thinking of giving it a go now? I skipped it in the first place because I wasn't all that into The Avengers movie, so I don't know if that means that it will be an automatic miss for me...But eh I do usually enjoy Joss's other shows (well at least I loved Buffy and Dollhouse, liked Angel, and Firefly was okay), plus I've seen some enthusiastic reviews for it really picking up in the second half of season 1, so would people recommend giving season 2 a try when it airs?

Did you see Captain America: The Winter Soldier? If you liked that movie, you'll enjoy Agents of SHIELD. The events of that movie were carried over into the last few episodes of Season 1, which is why it got so good towards the end.

I love SHIELD. It certainly got better as the characters developed and the plot expanded. I'm not sure how easy it is to watch if you're not familiar with the movies, though (not just the Avengers; it's completely tied into Winter Soldier and there's a Thor crossover too; the first ep this season has a Peggy Carter appearance--she's from both Capt. America movies and cofounded SHIELD.)

And hmm okay, thanks. Would you say that it's still a reasonably self-contained show that is easy to pick up though, or does it only make sense if you've seen the movies as well?

Now that Ric is back, I'm actually excited for the new season. I'd lost my enthusiasm over the previous two seasons.
And also a definite YES to AoS. I'm a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I guess the show works on its own as well, though. As someone else pointed out, it incorporates the events of The Winter Soldier, but it should be perfectly comprehensible and exciting enough without knowing the movie. But to get the most out of it, knowing the other movies is definitely a plus.

Thanks! I guess I could try some of the other movies, maybe some of them would be my thing than The Avengers was? I just don't find myself watching many comic book movies tbh, the only other ones I've seen were the first two X-men films (loved them mostly for Wolverine and Rogue and for Magneto), Batman Begins (okay from what I remember, but a bit slow in parts), and Superman Returns (eh I think I liked it more than most people seemed too lol, but it wasn't that great I guess)

I hope the cliffhanger is resolved quickly, because I don't think my heart could stand much of that into the season.

AoS though- LOVE THAT SHOW. Very excited for S2. To be fair, it isn't a Joss Whedon show- his brother Jed and his wife (Maurissa Tancharoen) are the writers and creators, although they also had writing credits on his other shows.

And ah okay, they were the ones writing for Dollhouse though, right? Because I did love that show!

I'm really looking forward to TVD, but I'm a huge Delena fan. I can see how some others might not enjoy that. I'm really curious about how they are going to handle Damon and Bonnie's arcs this season, there is a lot they could do there but we'll see.

It's definitely going to be interesting seeing how they plan to wrap up some of those arcs, and how early they will bring Damon and Bonnie back

I just hope they won't have Elena devastated too long over Damon. I don't necessarily ship them but I don't hate them... just... that have her "waste away" because of Damon... I felt she wasn't herself anymore for a while...
Same with PLL that I'm still a season behind or so (middle of season... 4? on Netflix, I think).
My mom's such a TV hog, I can't watch ANY of my shows when she's there.
I'm not that interested in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but I hear good things.

I haven't talked about Pretty Little Liars in my LJ yet (I should!), but yeah I've only seen the first three seasons of that, I would like to catch up on the rest so that I'm at least watching the final seasons in real time. I've just been putting it off because season 4 is £29.99 on iTunes (we don't have it on Netflix unfortunately), so I'm hoping for the price to drop first :P
