From what I remember the show was only *really* big over here for the first 3/4 seasons, then they switched the airing to BBC2 at some point and it became much more of a cult thing with a smaller audience?

I started watching when s4 was airing on BBC1 (Wednesday evenings I seem to recall), and I vividly remember that s5 aired on BBC1 on a Saturday night (which seemed kind of odd even then), I actually still have the VHS tapes which I recorded those episodes on (all labelled of course lol). I can't remember what the BBC did with it after that because we got Sky and I started watching it on there, but like a lot of people I stopped watching sometime in s7 (partly because of the lack of Mulder and partly because my life got hectic), I did tune in for the final episodes though (and have since rewatched the full series).
