I just think of him as Nathan Lane- because the actor is so famous, especially as a Broadway performer. His character was pretty lovable- but Nathan Lane is such a Broadway/NY/gay icon that he starts off with 1,000,000 + points, even at the beginning when it looked like he was anti L&G.
Plus, as I recall, he exposed some shadiness on the part of our "heroes". Acting like the firm was luxurious, established, and doing well even though it was going bankrupt- which could hurt clients and junior level associates. Although, I suppose that's business- and Nathan Lane/Clarke Hayden understood that too.
