I think what helped with the whole Caroline thing is that she did everything Katherine told her to.
I wonder about that, too. Everything Damon did for Elena was changed by Alaric so that Stefan, I'd think was there. I was thinking what if Elena starts loving Stefan again. You can't just stop loving someone just by a snap of a finger... except when everything's erased like Damon was but you know what I mean. I would have liked to see that, I think. Damon coming back not understanding what was happening with Elena but not only that, her getting back her feelings for Stefan in the mix.
