I really love those kinds of storylines with the Salvatore brothers :D
And yeah I'm not sure why they struggle so much with finding a good storyline for Alaric, they find plenty of potential storylines for Damon and Stefan, but there always seems to be this lingering feeling of Alaric being the ~adult~ of the cast, and therefore not getting as much to do romantically with the other regulars. Not that romance is the only possible storyline, but they're already having him flirt with another cute but fairly bland Doctor that we've only just met, and honestly how into this new romance do they think that the majority of viewers are going to be?
