Just started watching Hannibal and it's really good!
The only problem is I've now watched the first three episodes and I can't decide whether to watch 105 or not as they've skipped airing 104 for "sensitivity reasons". There's clips to fill in the continuity, but on both NBC's website and on youtube they are US only  So I don't know if I should wait for an international (dubbed?) version of 104 to air or just forget it and watch out of order or what
And why aren't more of my flist watching this show! I think a lot of you would enjoy it, it's really beautifully filmed and it's got some fascinating characters and relationships.

And hopefully the critical praise will encourage them to give it another shot then! Also I read something about it not being too expense for them to produce because it's an international co-production? I know nothing about American networks really lol, I always thought that it was FOX that was the one likely to do the worst, and the others were all pretty established as successfull...

Do you mean Hannibal (the book after SotL when Lecter is loose) or Hannibal Rising (the origin story book)? Because while I think the end of Hannibal is something that I do NOT need to see on TV, Fuller already said that Hannibal Rising would not be a text "engaged with". Sort of hard to do anyway, since it's young Hannibal, and we're too far into the modern day for the Nazi thing to work.

Yeah, I read that, too. It's already airing in a lot of countries, so I think it was a co-production with someone, and obviously rights have been sold for it to air lots of places.

Yeah, the big three are NBC, ABC, CBS. The other free ones are FOX, CW, UPN, basically (I might be forgetting one). For a long time, the big three were always in the top three in ratings, it was just a fight between them for which one was #1. But I guess things have changed, what with most people having cable access these days, not to mention variety on the internet.

I wondered actually if they were going to be referencing the Hannibal ending with his relationship with Abigail as he does seem to be grooming her at the moment. I haven't seen the clips as yet (just got back from work!), but I read spoilers for them earlier and Abigail hallucinating seeing her family from the drugs Hannibal gives her is very similar to the ending of Hannibal

Hopefully that will help as people always said that Nikita doing well internationally is what saved it, even though the ratings weren't exactly stellar

Exactly. It's a part of the story that hasn't really been explored in depth.

There were definite parallel vibes there. Though I guess we'll see, when we know how they turn out in the end.

NBC took a nosedive when they lost all their namesake shows like Seinfeld and Friends.
Looking at the ratings, it doesn't look good. Boils down to NBC's goals, I suppose; if they want to try to rebuild their rep. It has lots of international backing and it's filmed in Canada so it might be OK since it should be on the cheaper side.
One troubling thing is the person who brought it in is no longer head of the department, so it might be on a short leash...

Have you been following the show?

I've seen it rec'd enough that I'll get the DVDs.
I've found I don't really like to watch TV and prefer the all at once approach. Only exception is BrBa so far because I had to see what happened after Full Measure.
